  • Watch artist and primitive potter Kelly Magleby learn about and make Anasazi style pottery. Kelly went into the backcountry of Southern Utah with a knife and a buckskin to try to learn about Anasazi Pottery by doing it the way the Anasazi did it. "Earth and Fire" is a documentary poem about a passionate artist. Funded by Primitive Found (.org) Music by Jason Shaw @ audionautix.com Check out Kelly's art at anasazipottery.net This the 1st video of 2016 for The Talking Fly short documentary project by filmmaker Steve Olpin, Enjoy!
    Check out a pottery film I did a few years back:

    Thank you for this lovely video. I do some pottery in the style of the ancients also but not in such a beautiful way. The corrugated pottery is throwing me for a loop. Firing in my fire pit or the desert is the easy part. I have a lot of work to do but will keep trying.

    • @thorne79us

    • @cravingchaos

      I think that's Yellow Bee Plant or spider flower Cleome lutea. Used for pottery dye as well as a remedy for colds.

    • @tylerweathers1658
      @tylerweathers1658 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      do you know anything about the process of converting that plant into dye? surely there is another step past baking the flowers in a bowl? maybe a little water is added to the baked ash-like plant matter left after that burning? I would love to try this

    • @phillipmoore9012
