- Former Victorian premier Daniel Andrews is “fighting a court order” to submit phone records from the day his family’s Ford SUV “collided with a teenage cyclist who was seriously injured on impact,” Says Sky News host Rita Panahi.
15-year-old bike rider Ryan Meuleman was riding on the Mornington Peninsula when he was struck on January 7, 2013.
“He sustained serious injuries including a punctured lung, broken ribs, internal bleeding and lost 90 per cent of his spleen,” she said.
“Dan Andrews’ wife Catherine was behind the wheel at the time.
“Dan Andrews has engaged high-profile lawyer Leon Zwier and labelled the subpoena requiring him to produce phone records from that day a ‘fishing expedition’”.
He's acting like someone who's guilty. He's also never apologized to the young man and even tried to blame him.

The car should have been impounded for starters due to the serious collision with a cyclist, the car wasn't roadworthy to drive due to the windscreen damage and the driver wasn't breathalyzed. Flaws in this case are immense. Vic Pol please explain !!

About time this resurfaced.. they left the scene of a crime and weren’t subjected to drug or alcohol testing.. they blamed the cyclist and said he ran into them… but by the looks of his hospital photos it’s more likely he was hit by their car… Fu$& Dan Andrews

Examination of phone records should be routine police procedure in such cases to exclude use of a phone contributing to the seemingly dangerous inattention whilst driving. Hope the cyclist makes a full recovery.

Nothing sinister about this, they simply require evidence of whether the phone was being used. Not sure why they can't simply require this information direct from the cell phone company.

The failure to breath test is a legitimate worry, but the bias and exaggeration in each vid only harms their credibility.
At the risk of sounding like a typical YT braggart, I think one of my comments made them rewrite the script. One comment, and a new vid comes out, supposedly in the youth's own words, very stilted and lacking plausibility, to pitch against my opinion.
Should be enough in itself to cause serious doubts about the family's case.

You have to remember that these are just everyday people. They read comments, and they care about public perceptions.
