I made 2 batches of Long Grain Brown Rice tonight. I tried the white rice setting and the long grain white rice setting. The regular white rice setting worked better. Both were good, but for my next batch I will use the white rice setting again.
I also made a batch of Steel Cut Oats on the steel cut setting and they came out fantastic.
I am very pleased with this new model NL-DCC10 so far.
I've noticed that some Zojirushi rice cookers, such as the NL-GAC10/18, have a menu setting called "sushi/sweet" and corresponding water lines for the two kinds of rice. Why is it that some models pair the two settings, and others do not? In this model, the sweet setting is missing altogether and I'm wondering if I should avoid cooking mochigome/ sweet rice in it. I'm not too picky about texture, but I'm worried cooking the wrong kind of rice may cause the machine to malfunction.
The dedicated sweet rice setting has a slightly different cooking flow from white rice setting to be able to cook sweet rice to perfection. Sweet rice has more starch than white rice so if you wanted to test cooking it in your rice cooker. Please try cooking one cup first to see how it goes. The NL-DCC10/18 has a beep alert or silent. Unfortunately it does not have a melody alert. We apologize for the inconvenience.

I can’t find a way to change it from the Beeps to the Songs….. All the ones I saw videos on played songs and one of the top reviews on their website said it played songs when done. Did they eliminate the songs and my only choice is Beeping…….?
Hi! Most of our Micom rice cookers will play a melody. However, the NL-DCC10/18 only has a beep signal, no melody. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Any tips for cooking long grain brown rice? I read the Zojirushi brown rice setting is for short and medium grain brown rice.
That's right, the brown rice setting is designed to be used for short or medium grain brown rice. If you find that the long grain brown rice is too soft for your preferences, then some of our customers will switch over to the white rice setting to cook it. They usually are very happy with the outcome when they switch over. Hope this helps!

Why would mine boil over through the vent while making porridge?
This can happen if there is too much water which can happen if the lines on the pan are not followed or if the rice wasn't rinsed thoroughly to get rid of the excess starch on the rice. is it the newest one or a older model? induction?
This is not induction. As of now, our newest model is the pressure induction heating model NW-JEC10/18.

@@ZojirushiAmerica I mean no offense, but there are tons of reviews that mention the coating on the inner pots wearing off on Chinese made models, as opposed to Japanese made models. That is hard to ignore.
@@TombunnyHunter Non taken! All the cooking pans will experience wear. The longevity of the nonstick coating depends on how the pan is cared. We always recommend to hand wash the pan with a soft sponge and a mild dishwashing liquid, us the rice spatula that comes included with the rice cooker. Rinsing the rice in a different container will help and not hitting the edge of the pan with the spatula to prevent peeling. We hope this helps!
