I got a lot of mileage out of the vocoder as a guitar pedal in my microKORG. It’s funny how different we are overall though, I love the wooden sides and prefer the higher-contrast LED display over the XL’s washed-out LCD. I agree the menus can get a bit baffling, but I didn’t find the XL much better in that regard either. The sequencer control features in the original, using the preset buttons, is much better for my brain as well lol. But I always wanted to love the XL, its mic is nicer and the knobs look cool. So I’m glad it’s got you as a fan :)
Thanks - the original is more lofi but both get there the XL has effects that are better onboard but I usually use pedals and racks to add effects - that’s probably because I like to over do it where the onboard effects are usually safe if you know what I mean
For me the price of the OG MicroKorg (295 euro new) can not make me like or buy the XL (+) Also, I think you are using the Vocoders wrong...Place a mic next to the VC mic and mix in original voice....That way you get AWESOME effects out of the VC and get its full potential... The Vocoder is not a "voice-changer" like "Autotune" etc. but the voice is a carrier for sound ....

Yeah I am a fan of both really. I haven’t actually used the vocoder on these with guitar 🎸 but that’s a good idea
Which one makes the best sound to make lofi? ...can effects be added to presets?..delays, reberb...etc....Great video! thank you very much!

@@tedmurena thx friend for the help! 👑
Prefer the OG … But prefer the MS2000, even more - its vocoder has double the bands, etc.
I’ve never gotten my hands on an MS2000 but when I get my chance I’m sure I’ll get one

I get it - price is important and 295€ gets you a ton of kit
I love my Microkorg 😍 - and what is a Latino-american doing in Munich ? 🤪
The korgXL sounds better to my ears.
It’s built on newer and more robust processors so it does make better sounds for sure
