Another fun game, I haven't seen the bird with Rivendell before since he's usually with Loth - interesting list! fyi Gwaihir is only S6 base so not sure if that would've made a difference on those hurls :P
Although I don't usually enjoy watching (or playing) Good VS Good matches as much (for thematic/aesthetic reasons), I've enjoyed this batrep a lot! I'm very interested in the "Gwaihir solution" to shore up Rivendell's weaknesses as an alternative to the more popular Last Alliance route. Lots of monster charges, hurlings and prone-ings can provide some punch & open up some plays. I like that you've also backed it up with a lot of Elf Bows through Elrond + Knights. G-bird can also be a p. good instrument for assassinating stuff that can ruin Rivendell's day (casters in particular). I've actually tried a 750pts list very similar to this one with Cirdan instead of Erestor and I liked it ("even more charges & prone-ening with Elrond-wrath plus RivKnights" seems to be the universal logical conclusion for RivenBird lists). It was something like: Elrond (H/HA) with 1 Banner Sp/Sh + 5 Sp/Bow + 1 Sp/Sh + 7 Sh + 4 Knights (Sh), Cirdan with 2 Sp/Bow + 1 Sp/Sh + 3 Sh and G-bird. (11 Bows). Could scale it down to 700 too but 800 wouldn't work because of Cirdan's damn Minor Hero nerf (still stings to this day). I suppose for 800 I'd replace him with Erestor like in this list or a mounted HE Captain (I like those).
Steve loves Cirdan and probably would have fit him into this list if he didn't feel like he needed to shake things up. He doesn't love Gwaihir, but I (Andrew) do. I think he's a nice big hitter to add for 150 points to mitigate some of the elves' lack of killing power.
Another great video! Your camera however tries to change its color grading from time to time, maybe set that to static instead of automatic? Dont worry, its not terrible, but the changing color tones during some zooms and pans is noticable ;)
2 wounds and 1 fate, and only TYING his elf warriors on fight meant it was really risky. He's my leader, so is worth victory points, and is really fragile and doesn't even outfight an elf warrior, so it's far from guaranteed that he'll survive a turn if he's ganged up on. I think, just like Theoden, he's too fragile and you have to focus on keeping him alive and wait for a good opportunity to pounce. Especially since he's giving my royal guards bodyguard and +1 fight to my cav on a charge, until he dies. Obviously it didn't go well, but he's REALLY fragile so I think you have to be careful with him. Different strokes of course, but I don't want to strike every turn, especially with how poorly I roll dice. His elves even have elven blade so he has a better chance of winning duels than my big bad hero. Not to mention Elrond and Erestor both outfight Theodred. It's just a bad situation for him, and is one of the big drawbacks of Rohan, I think, their heroes only being F5.
Fair thoughts but against a good player and army you are basically accepting defeat if you best hero is left out of combat all game. Maybe keep him back first turn but you wanna spend your might to strike and win duels. When he's done his bit bring him back again. Try to put him into combat where the enemy heroes cant reach next turn if they win privs. Basically yes be careful but don't go afk 😅
@@NowForWrathGaming I’ve won a couple of tournaments with Theodreds guard so understand your thinking but honestly even if you have to strike vs a few elves hes killing those few elves and vs elves when you’re up against it your heroes should spend their might just to get models off the board. I think your use of your heroes and their resources coupled with a few questionable (illegal) moves from your opponent cost you the game. I’d also recommend burning your dice and using some official GW dice 😂 It’s great content and I enjoy the channel just wish you’d win the odd game 😅
Yeah, I just figure you can only strike 3 times with him, and that's if you don't end up having to spend might on other things (like when you roll a 3-high in the duel, ahem). I mean as you saw, he died with no might on the board, but that was mostly a dice issue I guess. I will burn my dice for sure. Hopefully I win the next one!
Love seeing all the Battletech on the back shelf! Great batrep, guys.
Love some Battletech! Can't wait for the latest kickstarter to start shipping!
Great battle report - Nice to see the potential of an Elrond and big bird dream team!
Big bird is much better when you cheat a little bit too.... BUT I think the combo has legs... er... wings? -S
gwaihir being allied is always sooo scary!
Great battle report!
Thank you!

Thanks! We did catch that later- I got used to using Gulavhar I guess! -S Thanks for stopping by!
Well you can’t do two brutal powers at the same turn so barging and hurling in the same turn is illegal 😅
ooops! Nice big asterisk for Andrew on that one! I definitely knew that but... brain no work good. Thanks for pointing it out!
Gwaihir's great if you just cheat a little, ya know?
The wind turkey knows no bounds
@@NowForWrathGaming Its only fair if you let Sauron take two brutal power attacks when Andrew pilots him. Theres that buff he needed. 🙃
Lovely

Yeah, we're just using iPhones now, so I'm not sure how much control we have, but we'll give it a look.
The "zooms" and "pans" are both still static images taken from our phones between turns; which is likely why! -S
Theodred is such a beast why was he just sat at the back the whole time 😢

Theodred just isn't having a great time recently 😂
No father should have to bury his theodred mini.
@@NowForWrathGaming at this rate, he's burrying him weekly 😂
@@RabtasticPaints That's a lot of flowers on a lot of burial mounds!
