  • Hey everyone. Just showing you my turtle trap I built. We have about 50 turtles in my little pond that we need to relocate to our bigger pond. This is an easy to build DIY homemade turtle trap, list of materials below:
    2x6 - 5'
    3" PVC - 10'
    3" PVC 90 degree Elbows - 4x
Bag of J Clips and Tool
    Bag of Zip Ties
1/2 Hardware Cloth (any wire fencing works)
I tested this out and already caught several turtles in just a few days.
    Thanks for watching!

Sir I like your turtle trap and the plank ramp. If I may point out a small thing no matter how may turtles you have in the trap the weight is not effected by the amount of the turtles. The only time weight is a factor is if there are to many turtles on the plank that they could sink your trap so the turtles in the trap can escape .

Great trap! I think you may have better luck catching Snapping turtles with a submerged trap cause they rarely sun themselves. Good luck.

Thanks. I haven't caught any snappers yet. Just red eared sliders.

So, after catching a bunch of turtles, I'm pretty sure I don't have any snappers in here. Just a bunch of red eared sliders.

I just seen your video. Did you ever get all of the turtles out of the pond? I also believe the turtles on that log was painter turtles I know for sure they wasn't snappers because snappers like to stay hidden. God bless you and your family my friend.

I got a bunch out, then realized none of them were snapping turtles. Most were red eared sliders. Trap worked well though. Bonus tip, It caught a bunch of small fish as well.

Do you have a idea or update on the trap to get the snappers? That's what I need. Thanks

The trap worked great. Turns out I didn't have any snappers, just red eared sliders. After 10 months, the wire rusted out, so use something a little more thicker and more galvanized.

I think you did not catch snapping turtles. They looked like sliders from the little glance at them that I saw. Excellent trap!

Yeah they're all red eared sliders. I found that out later on. Haven't seen any snappers in this pond. But still have way too many turtles.

All pond turtles are snapping turtles. Stick your finger in front of any pond turtles

Yeah. Not too worried about it anymore. Kids aren't that small anymore.

First of all, cool turtle trap.
When have you ever heard of anyone being attacked or bitten by a snapping turtle while in the water?🤣 Turtles are extremely fast swimmers, and want nothing to do with humans. The only reason they try to bite on land, is because they can't get away from you. You have absolutely nothing to worry about while in the water. They will swim away from you or your kids, long before you ever realize they're even there.
