Awesome video! This opened my eyes to old minoltas. I just picked up an SRT 102, which has a light meter, depth of field preview and can easily do multiple exposures. I'm a newbie so those features are very welcome.
It is so nostalgic. That camera has similar feels to my Nikon FM2 back in the day, the differents are (if I am nit mistaken) the view finder is easier (I meant is the focusing), it has hot shoe and light meter. Your pictures are so gorgeous looking. I learn so much. Thank you ❤️
Gery good, very subtle framed and sophisticated pictures. You were in control over photo situation, that is something I try to learn :) At 12:16 You use that patch of natural light in perfect way!
Hey Ed! I recently picked up a Minolta SRT 101 and an SR-1 unfortunately not the SR-1s but the body is the same as the SRT-101 and the viewfinder plus a lightmeter and you’re videos are awesome you should definitely do a review on a Minolta SRT 101!
you have to appreciate the fact that this camera camera came out in 1967 and it was the last of the SR1 line. so it was minoltas lower budget 1/1000 sec camera body. the original SR1 was only 1/500 the SRT101 had came out in 1966 and was much more advanced, fully metered and more expensive. the SR1s was still around $160 usd in 1967, the SRT101 was $235.00. that was a lot of money in 67
my friend has a sr-1s in very nice condition(almost brand new), the shutter is super nice, love the shutter sound, and the pictures she took are awesome, really wanna get one after she let me take some shots with her camera.
He mentioned it, showed it on his phone, but when I do a search for the app, 5 million different light metering apps pop up, and not the one he mentioned....Hence why i asked for a direct link
Which film did you shoot? looks pretty good at 50. I've just shot a roll of kodak ektachrome 100 @ 25 & 50 & 100 , expired at 1994, i will upload a video of it when i'll get the scans from the lab.
Very nicely done! It was very interesting seeing what you can do with a knowing, willing subject for a change. Also, I'm curious how that 50mm f1.7 Rokkor compares against the later MD 50mm f1.7 that was made for the X-series cameras. My guess would be they are optically the same formula? But maybe not?
SLRs don’t have rangefinders, they only have focusing screens in the viewfinder. I generally don’t enjoy manual focus on SLRs anymore. I used to be really fast at it with my A1 and X700... but once I started using rangefinders, now focusing an SLR is crazy slow for me.
EduardoPavezGoye What I mean is not a "true" rangefinder, it behaves almost entirely like one though. It is a circle split in half horizontally in the middle of the viewfinder, in which the images in the two halves move in opposite directions as you focus, until they line up perfectly. My Praktica PL Nova has it, and it is the only reliable way I can focus it, for it has been fitted with a weak diopric correction lens by the previous owner with glue, sadly, making the image in the viewfinder ever-so-slightly out of focus all the time, thus making it impossible for me to focus without the rangefinder thingie in the middle. I got it fot $5 only, so I can't really complain :D it is a great camera in every way.
William Pichardo I know what you mean, dude. It’s a split screen... I’ve tried it. The Nikomat has it, too. But that is nothing like a rangefinder. That’s my point. :)
Buenos tiros!
Hi Eduardo, Great video and really nice portrait shots! That Minolta lens you used on this SR-1s - was it a MC 50mm f/1.7 or was it actually a MC 55mm f/1.7? I looked at the video, and it looks like it's the 55mm f/1.7. Heard raves about the 55mm. So wanted to make sure it's actually that one that made the beautiful shots in this video.
This one was a special episode for me. I lived in Seville for 4 months done years ago. I really enjoyed the pictures. Some creative poses and framing. Really nice to see. Did you color corrected three photos yourself? I loved the color. I've been color correcting some negatives and I'm having trouble getting it right. Maybe a video on how you do it would be useful for a lot o us. By the way, you should come shoot to Portugal, man! Thanks for the video. Cheers.
The images are almost straight out of camera. I just added some contrast in a few frames. Keep in mind I scan with a Pakon F135, not a flatbed scanner. I would LOVE to visit Portugal. I've heard Lisbon is beyond amazing. Would love to see it one day!
A guy sold me an SR1 with a lens for $14 because he knew I would make good use of it. Great vid. I need to go use mine now.

Hey, I just discover your channel, I've always been a fan of you and your band, thanks for having such a good channel and saludos from Chile compadre

That moment when you realise even your " bad " photos are way better than my " good " photos 😊
Gery good, very subtle framed and sophisticated pictures. You were in control over photo situation, that is something I try to learn :) At 12:16 You use that patch of natural light in perfect way!
Saludos tardíos desde España, me ha encantado el vídeo y las fotos. ;)
Quando vens a Portugal fotografar? As ruas do Porto têm o que precisas!!
my film camera has the same focusing system, I wear also really big glasses and it took me like three months to get used to it!

Man. I have had my srt 303 for like 2 years now and im still keeping an eye out for that lens. It'll pop up one day i suppose.
first I clicked the like button and then started watching. great content. keep doing this.

Love te shot at 5:55, beautiful tones. Great job ! What is the name of the kodak film you used ?
I love my SR-1 (no S), but unfortunately it has some shutter issues with higher shutter speeds.
The ones around 5:58 I really like.
You always make great videos Ed, keep it up!

tsubasa.kun Hi! What kind of films does he usually use? Thanks
Could you put a link to the light meter app please....
Robert Cooper ed showed it at 12.16 👈
He mentioned it, showed it on his phone, but when I do a search for the app, 5 million different light metering apps pop up, and not the one he mentioned....Hence why i asked for a direct link
you are right, sorry.
Great video! Thank you for sharing.

what lens is it? googling I can´t find a Rokkor BF 50mm 1.7. I think I misheard something. Mil gracias, me encantan sus vídeos!
great vid; nice shots!
Hey, what u think about canonet ql17?
Very nicely done! It was very interesting seeing what you can do with a knowing, willing subject for a change. I did't try them side by side. :(
But you might be interested in my Ricoh GR episode where I shoot my friend Camila in Chile!
Sorry for being so shaky.
thank you for being awesome, man! you rocked it.
I can't find free light meter like the one you used. Can you write name of it or give the link?
ASLightMeter but it's only for iPhone!
10:38 man, this shot is so cool, I love it
Could you do a review of Pentax MX? Little SLR that serves more recognition.
What is your relationship with SLRs with a split prism rangefinder on the focusing screen like?
SLRs don’t have rangefinders, they only have focusing screens in the viewfinder. I generally don’t enjoy manual focus on SLRs anymore. I used to be really fast at it with my A1 and X700... but once I started using rangefinders, now focusing an SLR is crazy slow for me.

yo los dispararía a 100 y ver qué pasa
Muchas gracias Eduardo, vale probaré primero con el AGFA
You have a great eye. Love your honest review. You just earned a subscriber.
beautiful shots 😍 by the way what is the focal length of the lens used?
He used both a 50 and a 24.
Nice shots. Were these scanned on your Pakon?
Fresnel screen, maybe?

Truth be told, I don’t remember! It was probably the 55, the metal version.
@@edpavez Thanks for the reply. Probably the 55. Good lens.

EduardoPavezGoye Ok, the Pakon explains it. I don't own one, but I've use something similar. And yes, Lisbon had an unique light. Cheers.
wow, excelente!
Welcome to my city! :D
trop cool !
Some nice shots though man, even with a slr. ;)
Microprism focusing patch :)
