The Importance of pH Testing and Adjusting your Plants

- When gardening (hydro or soil) it is extremely important to know your pH levels and adjust them if need be.
Most plants can only take in nutrients in pH ranges. This is important to keep in mind if you start seeing signs of nutrient deficiency. pH lock out is when nutrients are in the solution but not available to the plant because the medium is out of the range the plant can accept it.
Don't let your plants get locked out!

Best video of the day. At least some people still try to give hard relevant information, and not just opinions. A+ man
I grow in 5 gal buckets w/ a quality organic soil mix.....I couldn't figure out what was wrong w/ my plants.....until I watched this video.....went to grow shop w/ a gal of my water....bought a PH pen & tested my water there....saw it was 7.7 so I bought a gal of PH down....then went to Walmart bought a 35 gal garbage can.....I now fill the can up w/ my water.....lower the PH to 6.8 then water by hand.....I saw positive results in 24 hrs.....cured my "P" problem & my buds tripled in size in the next 5 weeks....thank you....I've been growing since 1985 & never used a PH pen....looking back i'm shocked I could of missed this....I just never thought it mattered....water was water...DO'H !!!
Thank, I , also have never used a pen , just indicator drops. I'll see some results I hope
Finally a vid explaining soil pH and water! 💯👍🤙
Fantastic information,,also you cannot usually run what a feed chart says to run,,to many variables, light c02etc etc etc,,go through a grow doing this,,,,,feed normally come back in 12 hours check ph and ppm,,,,if your ph spikes you are not feeding enough,,if it drops you fed to much ,,if you do this first few days then once a week ,everytime you feed, when your done with a grow then you will have a damn good idea what YOUR CUSTOM FEED SCHEDULE should be,,ive got it down to where my ph moves .01 or .02 between feedings,,,before i learned this my ph was all over the place constant problems ,fight all grow just to keep the plant alive,,,now my main problem is outgrowing the footprint of my light,,this was by far the single most important information for a beginner HYDROPONIC GROWER to learn,,it made my hyydro grow super easy ,,fun even,,massive growth so fricken fast ,an healthy beautiful plants and the finest quality weed ive ever inhaled,,,when you start get a calender an right the info down ,,it really helps you see what exactly you are learning
love your professionalism, thank you.
Is the runoff pH the main one to be concerned about if growing in soil? Should you adjust the levels after nutrients are added in order to keep the soil at the optimal level?
This FINALLY confirmed how to ph my coco! Thanks!!!
To follow up on topic. If your having any problems (not hydro) get the soil pen. You can't always look at a "pour thru test". I can see a difference between runoff and probe numbers.
There is a great video on TH-cam "How to do a pour thru test". If your not consistent with your process may lead to varying results.
I think the main thing to learn is to have the medium prepared before starting the pot or transplant.
Green Thumbs up:)
Awesome video brother thanks 🙏
Man thank you...IM A FAN NOW!!!!
Awesome information brother thanks
Good quick info
thanks
I get that I now need a ph pen and up and down solution for my plant thats going yellow with light spots but for me its not the bottom leaves, its all the newer leaves that are coming in yellowish. What does that mean? And also the idea of mixing up ph solution and then watering the soil that supposed to have the nutrients already kind of confuses me. I never used a pen or dealt with any solution before. But clearly my plant isn't right so I'm just not sure what to do.
Looking for recommendations for best phosphorus products.
What if your running general hydroponics in soil? What ph would you suggest in that situation?
You're the man
How do you test ph in RODI since there’s no buffer
great video Matt. man I hve an enigma and that is I grow in soil and perlite once I get into flower my plants seem to excrete a base because the pH level will tend to go into the mid to high 7s. I have to feed and water at 4.8 to 5.3 just to keep her at 7. is this normal
So helpful. Thank you so much, man!
Thanks 🙏🏻 Bud.
I'n growing in soil and my runoff is 6.2 - 6.3 which I thought was okay but I'm showing signs of lockout. I guess I'm going to have to try to raise the soil Ph with lime and/or watering at a higher PH level to get the runoff to around 6.8 - 70 for a while and see what happens
Soil and pro mix is to different things
Nice video man! Thanx
Cheers.. Great information
Great video. Very helpful.
So I feed my plants this morning and discovered a few results regarding ph levels. The ph of the 1L tap water was 8.9. Added 1ml of fish mix. Ph dropped from 8.9 to 7.1. After adding a quarter of ml fish mix it dropped to 7.0. After leaving the water for 10min I test the Ph again and 7.0 was the reading. I'm using coco coir perlite. My question is do I have to use ph down to adjust to 6.2 - 6.3 ?? I discovered that the ph liquid I have is not organic. Can I use non organic ph liquid with organic nutrients?
Hows your ph? Did you test the coco in the end?
Awesome Dude as is all of your stuff.
I wasted so much time and effort(and money) before I realized how important PH is. Just the fact that 7.0 is ten times more than 6.0 should show how important it is.
Spend the $150 and get a soil pen. (can also be used for water/mix)
Thank you Sir
pH is a logarithmic scale
I haven't tested my coco or water ph in year's.
@@gillenzfluff8380 Do you find some varieties are more sensitive?
@@mysteryaction6927 Some but not many I just use the green tint of the leaves to judge how much fertilizer they need.
I have done white widow, Jack herer critical auto, sugar black rose, cotton candy, whit rhino, ice purple express, greenhouse jack herer, pineapple chunk, and gorilla zkittlez , I grew tomatoes as a test this year outdoors in the cheapest coco using watered down urine no ph or ec testing they grew just as good as specific coco blend nutrients.
If I can get a good crop of tasty tomatoes using watered down piss I'm pretty sure all this ph testing and ec measuring is a waste of time and a con even the coco specific nutrients.
@@mysteryaction6927 In one year, the average human being produces enough urine to fertilize 6,300 tomato plants which would produce 2.41 tons of tomato fruits in just one season.
I don't see the point in buying nutrients anymore I spend money on really nice food and drink and use the fertilizer I produce from that.
Top bloke
Why would my ph go from 5.8 to 7.8 over night? I transplanted one seedling the day before yesterday in a 3 gallon hydroponic bucket. I only have the fox farm grow big nutrient bottle and one little bottle of fish shit they gave me at the local hydro store. I know I'll need the rest of the nutrients but the sells guy said I could start with just that. Is he right or am I fuckin up?
depending on the soil shop soil more like is in between the 2 5.8 to 6.3 my soil was buffed to 7 I was having slite essues lower tips burning off at bottom leafs going yellow to and falling off, wat could it be I put 12g of citric acid to lower it but fkt it I had to flush 140l to get it to 6 again it's stronger the my phosphorus acid I put about 4g of that so I thought citric acid was weaker.
Thanks man
great info thanks!!
Can someone please explain to me how you fuck up the pH of your soil? Soil self buffers potential hydrogen. You shouldn't be able to even do that, I'm so confused.
thank you for the info!
go tiger's
I hope your group will soon switch to using a personal mic instead of the camera's mic.
You'll sound much more competent when you do. Room reverb sucks.
Dan Lewis jeeez what more do you want? Would you like him to come around your house and talk to you in person? 😂
5.5 bang on
onward and upward
Can you just test your run off and get an idea?
how can you test the soil ph level with a regular blue lab ph pen ?
best way would be to test your run off
Too many subjects, just do COCO or Soil...DON'T mix it up....too confusing.
i dont know whats better the beard or the info????????????
This guy looks like Rasputin
