Well written? Since when are angry stereotypical characters well written? All of them are one dimensional. I grew tired of the series pretty quickly due to that. But that's just my opinion.
I do love the fact that while there are not exactly sympathetic characters in this show, the women are no shrinking violets that need a man to save them. Case in point these two. I can't wait to see them go up against each other in a few weeks. I hope the writing stays the course and we are going to be entertained by some epic fights - literally or figuratively.
Beth Dutton is a character like I've never seen in a TV show or movie. It's like no matter how big the bear that comes after her, she not only wins against them, she utterly destroys them with prejudice. I don't know how many takes it took to get the look on her face when she was sitting on the curb after the explosion at the close of season 3, but it literally made all my hair stand on end. My first thought was "God help whomever did that to her". She has vengeance like few characters in movie or TV history can match. So much so that you want to pray for whomever she directs her anger toward, even though you hate them too. It's as it the devil himself is afraid to let her into hell for fear she'd take over. She is easily one of THE top TV (or movie for that matter) characters I've ever seen. She never fails to satisfy.
I've only watched these small snippets of the show, but it looks very well produced with original writing and excellent casting. I especially appreciate this lady who plays Beth. Well done. Not often does a show come along that checks all the boxes.

Beth is a character created by Taylor Sheridan. There is a part of himself in every character. Sometimes I see Beth when he is talking to Jimmy in Season 4. Taylor must know and rely on good advisors to create such a wide variety of dazzling characters. Beth's understanding of the business world and treachery came from somewhere and some good advising. But the writer is everything, no matter how many good advisers there are.
Oh, I suspect Taylor Sheridan patterns a lot of his characters in gangs/families from his time as an actor in the machine. I'm sure more than a few of those execs he had to deal with were just like Beth, but with outie balls.

The ironic thing about "build me Aspen, Build me Breckenridge" is that those are perfect examples of grossly overdevelped ski areas that no longer posses any charm. you can't even find a parking spot . You can ski on Monday and Tuesday otherwise its Disney World on the worst day

Peooke moving in who have turned it into yuppie latte drinking hell hole. They never go near Denver any more. This show is a great exercise in make-believe Its depiction of life in Montana vs. what it's really like to live there couldn't be further apart. The scenery is pretty great though. I watch with the sound turned off.

It illustrates the illusion that is the human experience which only those who choose to think about it can see. And they're usually the ones who're motivated to think about it. "Behind every milestone in human history is a monster". Now the story of our world is being told with the degree of realism and comedy that it deserves. Fun stuff.

Nope. Take a little and then take it all. If you put all your cards on the table the table knows your hand too early. Beth is patient but angry and people get fooled ALWAYS by her anger. She is the personification of the application of logic with no emotion. That is what her bear trap is. Everyone thinks she's emotional and unbalanced. She is the most balanced mind in the group. Rip is rage, John is nostalgia and holds the line, Kaycee is too whipped by his whining wife to stand and stick. Beth acts like a hurricane but she is a tornado. She can take out a whole neighborhood and hit just what she wants to hit. That is the genius of her character.

Nope. Take a little and then take it all. If you put all your cards on the table the table knows your hand too early. Beth is patient but angry and people get fooled ALWAYS by her anger. She is the personification of the application of logic with no emotion. That is what her bear trap is. Everyone thinks she's emotional and unbalanced. She is the most balanced mind in the group. Rip is rage, John is nostalgia and holds the line, Kaycee is too whipped by his whining wife to stand and stick. Beth acts like a hurricane but she is a tornado. She can take out a whole neighborhood and hit just what she wants to hit. That is the genius of her character.
Caroline is super scary . She was the only one who made Beth be terrified .
