Just noticed the shot with the mossed Tardis has flowers at the front of it; imagine if the doctor goes missing for centuries and that is his monument.
I think in that scene with David, we're goin to see a lot of old faces, its the classic dw scene "wow you have a lot of faces" for the companion to see
Hmm... Maybe but at the same time I don't think they're going to have David there season 1 when this is supposed to be a new starting on point for new viewers... Although again since the 60th specials are included as part of the new show maybe they will haha.
It looks so cool! I love the use of David Bowie’s “Changes”, think it made for a good hype track. Some really cool imagery shown, and (besides the dinosaurs, not sold on that) is it just me or did the effects look REALLY nice?! I’m looking forward to seeing all the new creatures, I love that we get the Doctor and Ruby running from a monster on a darkly lit spaceship, and what in the world is going on with the David Tennant hologram head? And I can’t forget bringing Kate Stewart back again already - I’m always happy to see more of my wife. I’m totally along for the ride, and it looks like it’s gonna be a fun one.
For the DT Hologram- there's a split second of another incarnation, I think they're going to show them all- my guess is that they're scanning the Doctor and shuffling through his previous lives (like that scene in the Eleventh Hour or Earthshock)
The stepping on the butterfly immediately changing ruby seems a bit weird because they have done way crazier things without any direct consequences before (like introducing the word dude and a tank multiple hundred years earlier than they should have been) I really hope they have a good explanation for this being different there
As I say in the video, I think this is pretty textbook Russell T Davies- does stuff without any explanation, just for the memes really and you've got to keep up with it. It's his style which has its pros and cons. A majority of the time I'm fine with being along for the ride
Doctor who jumps around with it’s time travel logic a lot. However, the surprise the doctor shows in that clip suggests there’s an explanation. We will see
As a fifty year plus fan I’d have been hitting refresh on the DW TH-cam channel every few seconds knowing there was a trailer coming. I did not know about this until dwfan91’s reaction appeared here. So this is Disney doctor who now. Thank God they have such a solid record of enhancing beloved franchises. Sorry, dwfan91. I love your love for this show (except Revenge of the Cybermen) but I have some nagging doubts. Hopefully I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
@@dwfan91-I’ve watched that trailer a few times now. Here’s what’s concerning me. Like myself dwfan91 you know that Peter Capaldi is The Doctor. Why? Gravitas, that’s why! It did not matter how great or goofy a situation he was in: he was a powerful presence who commanded attention. Whoever is directing Ncuti in these scenes is not asking him to emit gravitas. Sure, the Doctor can be playful, but underneath it we need to know that he can be like that because he has the power to destroy entire civilisations. It’s a key aspect to the Doctor which I’m not seeing in this trailer.
Love the trailer, my skepticism has been washed away. I had a feeling RTD hadn't lost it, I think his first few episodes were great but I sensed a change. This feels good though, like a brand new start. Loving the interconnections and hoping they pay off in a satisfying way. Tbh I gasped at Tennant's reveal, I heard rumours about a possible series 15 (yes I'm sticking with the numbering) appearance but I didn't think he'd appear again so soon. The beatles one did have me skeptical about how they'd approach it but I'm actually quite glad it seems like a musical episode. With the Moff returning, I wasn't surprised but glad, he works well under RTD's supervision and I hope he decides to do another. I wonder what prompted him to return, like I know the Nuwho triad of showrunners are lifelong fans of the show but I did wonder if this was RTD reaching out for help.
Definitely a great trailer, I can already tell Ncuti Gatwa will be fantastic as the Doctor, I don't mind the fantasy elements shown so far, I think the new series will start off right after the Christmas special so that's probably why Ruby walking into the Tardis looks slightly different, I don't really have any major theories but the woman at 1:23 could potentially be a younger Mrs Flood from the 60s episode maybe? Definitely looking forward to it and yes a community video would be great 👍🏻
My thoughts on the new trailer are simply that it looks as expected. It continues to look fun but, sadly in my eyes, continues to make Ruby seem more than a normal person off the street. My thoughts on Moffat's return are wholly positive. I really would not be pleased if he became showrunner again, but I'm pleased to have him write for the show. The same, it must be said, is true for Hinchcliffe or Chibnall.
You may get the episodes at midnight, but at least you're off for the weekend and *can* stay up and watch as it drops. In most of the US, the episodes drop in the middle of the afternoon on a work day! It'll be hours before most of us can watch them.
@@dwfan91- True, I was using more of a collective "the majority of people in the UK" you, rather than meaning you individually. I work Saturday mornings, so early Saturday afternoon for the specials was perfect for me!
The trailer was great man! The scale of the show seems alot bigger, and it definitely looks better visually overall too. It also looked like Ruby was aging in some of those shots. I'm curious about that and if it ties into the abandoned Tardis shot that we also see. Definitely sad about the release times for the episodes though I completely agree with you on that 💔 Great video as always!! Can't wait to hear your thoughts when the episodes drop!!
Thank you so much! If I'm right, those shots of Ruby might be from the episode written by Steven Moffat (episode 3) which is very exciting- thanks for stopping by!
Honestly I'm a bit nervous about the direction the show is going in. Going in a more fantasy/magic direction in my opinion is just a way to try and get younger viewers and a general audience. This is the same thing that has happened with modern Star Trek, the writers go into the show thinking it's scifi so I can just make crap up with no explanation or respect for what came before. This trailer sadly has not really gotten me excited about the upcoming season.
8 episodes is a shame but I hope it means all 8 will be back to back bangers. I think the reused footage make the trailer feel like a trailer for the whole season including Ruby road- makes me think this season was supposed to drop a bit earlier I think I’ve worked out where each clip is from so definitely can’t wait for episodes 1,4 and 6.
The Tardis covered with moss on that cliff mountain face I am near certain is the infamous Mull of Kintyre i.e. Paul McCartney song and he filmed a music video on that same location (called Once Upoin a Long Ago) and with the Scottish link it seems that Scottish theme might come into play substantially in a story or two. After all we know a Beatles association is in story two.
I think it looks really interesting. I love them going more into a gods and monsters direction. The special effects definitely seem to go for spectacle even if they sometimes look a bit cheesy. I love ncuti here with all of his outfits. Also seemingly no romance which the companion this episode will be nice.
Yeah thinking about it’s probably going to be a short sequence at the start because other than including the Silurians I can’t imagine a plot for a dinosaur episode that isn’t just everyone running from dodgy cgi
If im honest, nah im not feeling it, Ncuti has good energy but im not feeling him as the doctor, along with that him promising ruby's mum that he will keep her safe again feels like its not something the doctor would do, to me the doctor would say "i cant promise that, but i can promise i will try everything i can" or something like that. Just think of how series one of the 2005 series went with 9. "It won't be quiet, it won't be safe and it wont be calm" the doctor never lies about his life being safe. I dont know, sounds pedantic but as usual, i think its gonna be terrible but i welcome them to prove me wrong.
I understand your critique. In the episode The Power of Three, the Doctor has to be honest with Rory's dad that it isn't safe and their life is dangerous. On the other hand, I personally thought it was a well made trailer and am optimistic about the state of the show. Again however, the format change really took the wind out of my sails
I too feel same way the trailer has gorgeous visuals , but like I feel despite Disney money and overall owning it in all bar name ...I personally HOPE there's bits I enjoy ...but I just can't get hyped about it sadly either
Yeah all that combined like the scheduling, the trailer not feeling right with me, the characterization of the doctor and the episodes of RTD2 we got already, I can't help but feel this is gonna bomb for me, I don't see us getting past these next two seasons and I'm not hating, I'm a fan, that HURTS me to say but sometimes you got to know when to put a dog down.
Looking good, I am a bit concerned by the music choices but I assume it is more about theme rather than the style in the show. Wide shots are cool, monsters looking cool, dinosaurs looking cool but lacking feathers
Idk this looks weird but i always preferred more scientific episodes to the fantasy ones so that probably why. I like the alien and science ones. I love repeating myself. I love repeating myself.
Still think Ncuti and Millie are great casting, super excited for new Moffat and RTD scripts and there’s a few moments in the trailer that hint at interesting stories. However, theres a strange Disney sheen to the tone of the trailer, the colour grading and the CGI that does worry me a bit. The Christmas trailer from the BBC didn’t have that vibe though and made the series look much better imo so there’s a chance it’s just the way Disney have edited it and what they chose to focus on to appeal to their audience.
i'm excited for 15 and ncuti, but i'm still a bit skeptical about rtd trying to copy some of his "greatest hits". hope that scene with tennant is just a callback to all previous faces, and not just playing on 14's hype. let 15 have his moment for heaven's sake. apart from that, can't wait to see more of 15 and ruby, lets gooo
