Fast & Furious is set BEFORE Tokyo drift.
i'll give you the chronological order of the films:
      1,2, 4 (this one),5, 6, 3 (Tokyo Drift), 7,8, 9, 10 (also known as Fast X).
4, 5 and 6 fill in the story of how Han and other characters are connected to Dom and Brian because as Dom said at the end of Tokyo Drift "he was when he was rolling with me"
you don't have to watch them in chronological order mind you...i would personally...but so long as you bear it in mind you can watch them in release order too.

@@MJ-bt6zx No its only peak if you like big explosions and are easily entertained by shallow plot lines. It becomes a mediocre Micheal Bay James bond film. First with the Mcguffin, then the heist. The the asinine plot that everything means 3/4 government plot line is pointless filler. Fun film sure. Peak is a stretch of massive proportions. It's effectively the same plot as 2 Fast 2 Furious with more spy and more explosions.

This is the franchise that wasn't originally planned to be 10+ movies. That's why Tokyo Drift didn't have any of the original cast except Dom. I think they realized people wanted the original cast, so that put the studio in a predicament to try and mesh together the timeline to somewhat make sense LOL.

I’m not sure if this is rumor or fact, BUT I heard that Vin Diesel really wanted to make an epic Genghis Khan movie where he would play the lead role! But no studio wants to produce it , so to finance it himself , he’s been making all these sequels to movie franchises he’s been apart of (‘fast and furious, and Riddick ) which he’s executive producers on , and all the money he’s been making on these is going towards making that movie ! Just what I heard, don’t quote me on it though!

He was the king of the streets in Miami with the 2nd movie just like how Dom was in LA with the first movie. I also love when Dom says "Buster became a gearhead" with a smile. This is the movie where they become an actual family.

Fast 1 canonically took place in 2004… Fast 4 in 2009, hence the five years later.
This movie also started the “One Race Per Movie” trend, that’s the main reason for me why I count The Fast Saga as Heist/Espionage genre Films and not just street racing movies. Even Fast 1 & 2 were Heist/Espionge movies
Great reaction by the way 🏎️💨
Also in the OG Script, Roman was supposed to appear at the end help breaking Dom out.

The first time I found out that a Fast and Furious 4 was coming is when I went to the theater to go see Death Race in August 2008. I was watching trailers and I noticed one trailer I never saw before that started with a truck carrying fuel tankers being hijack. I was surprised when I saw Vin and Michelle are the ones hijacking the tankers, and realized this was a trailer for a new Fast and Furious. I'm happy also seeing Paul and Jordana in the trailer. Thrilled the four original main cast were back. To me, I count Fast & Furious as the real true sequel to the original movie.

Bringing back the original cast of the first film for the 4th was a major shock to the system.
The tagline alone:'New model, Original parts' was too good for marketing.
This was the grittiest of the saga and a major step up from F1.
Serious drama, good action, great driving and no games allowed in this scenario.
Gal Gadot as Giselle makes her acting film debut.
    Nice addition to the saga.
IRL, she was a veteran supermodel and ex-military in her home country of Israel.
The 'Los Bandoleros' short film, directed by Diesel was good for expanding the story.
All about Dom, his newest crew and very special moment in his relationship with Letty after the events of the first film.
It was available with the movie after home release.
When it comes down to it, the bond of these original characters (Dom, Letty, Brian & Mia) was and still is the core of the Fast Saga.
    After this one, everything changes.
    I do mean EVERYTHING!!!!!!

Along with "Tokyo Drift," I feel this is an underrated entry overall. While "Fast Five" is the entry that truly shifts the franchise from a street-racing based series, to full blown action-movie spectacle, I think this instalment laid the groundwork; teasing how over the top they could get, while still relatively set against the backdrop of street racing. "Tokyo Drift" clearly wasn't a huge hit, but the studio and Vin Diesel still appreciated and respected what director Justin Lin & writer Chris Morgan brought to the table with the 3rd entry, as they were brought back for this and future instalments, (Justin Lin would direct "Tokyo Drift" through 6, and return to direct 9, while Morgan would write all the F&F movies from "Tokyo Drift" to "Hobbs & Shaw"). His "family" mantra may be a meme at this point, but Vin Diesel's return was pretty significant, as he saw that the sequels at the time suffered from the fact that neither of them felt like true continuations of the first movie, and featured a rotating cast of characters, rather than a consistent one (though the fact that the sequels introduced new characters, would end up being a plus down the line). This movie did a great job reassembling (for the most part) the main characters from the first movie, particularly reuniting Dom & Brian as they now fully become allies. Looking forward to you guys continuing this journey lol. It's a doozy, but it's a fun doozy.

The Fast and Furious movies are really like comic books, the characters pull off some insane feats, they have fat plot armor, and when characters do die, they never stay dead.
