Vance is super glib but his condescending smile comes across as a smirk. Tim comes across as genuine, capable, without any flim flam show, And throughout he kept giving examples of what he has done in his state, whereas Vance very rarely spoke about what he has done. Even Tim's body language was more earnest and open. The one disappointment in Tim was the China Taianamen lie that he didn't explain very well. The moderator was smart and challenged Vance if he can be trusted to check or be a balance to a free wheeling, vulnerable to manipulation Trump, or will he continuously agree, given how recent his turnaround on Trump has been. This is the problem with fact checking. To object to it is to be called a liar. The issue is that the rules were clearly set. It is up to each candidate to fact check the other candidate. This was the case for most of this debate. However, for a few issues, the mods stepped in. This is fundamentally disingenuous. @@Vinstvdo There are fair criticisms to be made about the Democratic party and the current prescient, but I think there’s no denying that the Republican party is the bigger mess. They can’t agree on anything or get anything passed in Congress, they lost their Speaker of the House for the first time in history (and the reason he was booted was pointless because Mike Johnson did the same thing Kevin McCarthy tried to do), they keep trying to shut the government down, and Trump starts witch hunts against any Republican who disagrees with him. Donald Trump has ruined the GOP with his influence. I hope one day it will be restored to its former rational self.
Also I agree you could argue that Vance did better than Harris (I disagree but that’s fine), but my point is that Trump did so bad in the presidential debate that it will be more impactful to the election than Vance doing decently ok in a vice presidential debate. Hard to imagine a scenario where a vice presidential debate would matter more than a presidential one. People care way more about Trump than Vance.

Walz point of honoring democracy "Will you stand up to Trump if he tries to stay in office after losing an election?" Yes, we all wonder this. Pence, for all of his faults, stood up to Trump in a way that was heroic. I believe he will go down in history as the greatest vice president every because of his actions on this point.
