  • Welcome to my #lockdownproject! Over twelve episodes amounting to 2:30 hrs, I'll show you how to take locally sourced raw materials and turn them in to a rough and ready traditional coil basket. I'll take you through every step of the process from the splitting, pithing and stropping of bramble cane to the combing and preparing of grass materials for stitching and binding in to a robust working basket.

Alex I love your channel and I'm looking to learn more on traditional craftsmanship that is relevant to modern life especially when it comes to self sufficiency and sustainability. I hope you come back to TH-cam to share your knowledge and skills as you do it so well. I would be more than happy to collaborate with you as embark on a quest to learn coppicing and all woodland crafts that revolve around it. All the very best for the new year. cheers J

I believe I am officially your biggest fan now.
No idea how I'll manage to find the time to actually DO this with young children at home, but a woman can dream. (And my 5yo says, in response to your vido, "I can't wait to learn how to make a basket! I want to have one that has a handle like a picnic basket"...he seems enthused, perhaps we can make this a group project.)

What a great project! My wife and I are loving Cræft and we were hoping you'd make some videos following up the book! Do you think this basket could be modified to work as a skep?

This sounds super! Any hope of Book of the Farm being reprinted? I can't find your edition anywhere.

Here's the champion hobbledehoy, yet again! His dreadful, boring voice is totally unsuited to broadcasting.
