Fire Emblem story: Giant armies, 500 men against 3000.
Fire Emblem gameplay: a few people scattered around a grid of squares, 7 against 15.
Yeah its kind of a case of gameplay and story segregation. You even get cut scenes where the named characters are surrounded by hundreds of soldiers of the respective two armies facing off and of course when you actually fight its just your group of named characters vs. a dozen or so enemies. Course in other battles in the games it really is supposed to be only the characters you see present.
Yeah, that stuff is always strange in Fire emblem. I always just think that the playable characters are the the spearhead of the army, basically the special forces of an army that is somehow always off-screen. They go in, kill the enemy commander, and the invisible army takes care of the Enemy’s invisible soliders. So i guess FE Warriors is the most realistic version of FE when it comes to Army sizes :p

@@benjaminborkowski12 It depend of the game. In FE7, you are really playing those characters in nothing else. In FE8, you actually have a "invisible" army with you. In FE4, your character are alone but ARE fighting entire armies (they are that good)

Taking people hostage is hardly badass. Badass usually means someone who doesn't rely on such cowardly tactics. The only way that can be remotely badass is if he was bluffing.

Yeah, I'm inclined to believe that he was just bluffing. Lukas would gain nothing by actually killing them, since Clive and company would die anyway no matter what they do if Slayde refused to stand down.

Despite the fact that Fernand is being really difficult and bitter in this DLC level, he still has a small shred of honor and dignity cause he doesn’t hesitate to tell Clair that he’ll do whatever it takes to ensure that at least she lives. He knows parlaying with Slayde means marching to a likely an honorless and agonizing death, but he’s determined to try to salvage the life of his best friend’s sister despite the overwhelming sense of disillusionment he’s experiencing.

Lukas is an absolute god. This map is something else. For the Deliverance being good guys from Nintendo, that was a pretty unexpected move
oh my fucking god Lukas is such a good character. He wasn't born a noble so he's willing to do what they're not to save lives, he's observant and intelligent, and whoever that niggas voice actor is makes me nutt every time he speaks

Commander Odinstark He was born a noble just like Clive/Mathilda/Fernand (tho I think his household isn't a high ranking one. That's why other nobles make fun of him with the "backwater noble") not became one like Mycen. Unless I'm mistaken something?

@Zxylo 5 Clive and Lukas were my knights in shining armor with the Gradivus and Ridersbane, respectively. Then again, Lukas was op 'cause I reclassed him for fun.
Lukas just went to from badass soldier to terrifyingly effective in every way and I love every bit of it.
Okay, this DLC is actually worth its price. Not only we get backstory, which is always cool, but they also give us a couple rescue/escort maps, a retreat map, and a defense map in a game that is desperately needing that variety. Yeah, yeah, it's DLC, you have to put extra money on it and that sucks, but it's not quite as much of a steal as some of the others.
These actually played quite nicely, and I hope we get to see some more of this variety in Fire Emblem Switch, hopefully not behind a paywall.
Also fuck, Lukas, you get better every day.

Indeed it is. I'm not a big fan of DLC in general, and some of the prices are ridiculous, but unfortunately none of that is up to me. I can either buy or not buy.
I don't blame them much on that. Remember that this technically is a remake. These are the same maps in the past.
