3:20 You can hold +SHIFT while scaling (also move/rotate) to do quick extrudes, I suggest getting used to that one, very useful! :D

I know, but I wanted to keep it basic as it is aimed towards beginners

That is exactly the thing that should be a mandatory information in any 3d modeling curse. Unfortunately booleans dont give such good results, and the mesh can be a bit messy as well

Exactly why I made the video :-) Thanks

@@MHTutorials3D just a quick thought about the step around 4:18. Scaling out is fine but i think it would need one more step that is "snap" them to the proper side so it would be an exact square. This i thin is still a bit eyeballed. Unless i missed some snap option while scaling was done.

Well, booleans tend to be a bit quicker, and you can always fix the topology after.

if you need to make the same even circle as in the lesson, the easiest way is to create a 4*4*4 cube, then remove all the edges on the desired face, make an offset extrusion on the remaining face and then circularize. In this case, the size of the cube itself does not change, which is important.

As someone who recently started with 3d modeling this was very helpful :)

Often you would need to put a hole into an existing square, so you'll not necessarily have full control over how many edges the circle can have. So lets say we have a square face with 20 edges, we can do the following:
-Create a cyclynder with 20 edges and delete all faces except the top faces.
-Put the cylynder in the middle of the square.
-Delete the face of the square where the hole will go.
-Combine the square and the cylynder.
-Use the "append to polygon" tool to join each face of the cycynder to the face of the square.
-Delete the cylynder face to be left with just the hole.

You can also try circularize, shift & right mouse button
