Assyrian best yerba is Canarias but it's also the strongest, and its the best sell. I don't recommend it if you're an hyperactive person, one of my friends is diagnosed as (slightly) hyperactive and when she drink that yerba end up shaking and sometimes even made little jumps walking lol! Other good yerbas I like are Baldo (also from Canarias) and La Selva para nerviosos (for nervous people, it has tilo) the last one is the softer one so if you're starting I recommend that. But they are all equally good, most of my family drinks the last one its just a matter of like. I don't know the answer to the other questions haha

Not through South America, only Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, and South of Brazil, mate is a guaraní name and the base leaf used in it, the mate leaf is from Paraguay, Chileans, Bolivians and Peruvians are the three of them Incaic andine countries, they are very different, while Ecuador, Colombi, and Venezuela share very little with their indigenous roots and have a much more "Caribbean" culture, although Ecuador shares a lot of things in common with Peru, anything up from Colombia is totally different from South America
