You are the first person from the U.K. and a youtuber that I've watched that likes Rootbeer. As an American I grew up loving rootbeer and have very fond memories as a child going with my dad to the A&W rootbeer stand. You parked and carhop would bring your order to your car. My favorite was a nice greasy buger, fries and an ice cold mug with either rootbeer or a rootbeer float. Thanks for sharing your videos.
Root Beer by A&W's is one of my favourite soft drinks, but its very hard to come by in the UK outside of American candy stores. Its expensive to acquire per can. I've tried some Asian branded Root Beers as some countries sell it, but they are often not as good.
I know I'm a bit late, but i am catching up going through all the videos, from oldest to latest, I absolutely fell in love with root beer when traveling around the states, you should try an RB,float. RB& two scoops of Vanilla ice cream but be aware of the fizzy froth pour it slowly. Thanks for all the work you put into showing all the beautiful places you go to, by Planes, Trains, and everything in-between.
As an American in N. Carolina I agree with you about Hershey’s quality (or lack thereof). Snyder’s makes a lot of really good pretzels without extra flavor on them.
I love this video! I grew up in Chicago Illinois USA, I live in Denver Colorado today. I grew up eating US snacks. I agree on the Twinkies - they are nasty! Sickly sweet, artificial filling, Not Recommended! I grew up eating Hershies chocolate, I’ve had Galaxy - Galaxy is amazing!!! Our Ghirardelli is decent, but Galaxy is my favorite of any mass produced chocolate. I do have a soft spot for Reese’s Peanut butter cups however. 😅. Really enjoyed this video!
Hey Matey. As a fellow Scot living in Florida almost eighteen years now, my local Publix store has a small British section, in international food and ethnic section. They sell all kinds of goodness, Irn Bru, Jammie dodgers, Carmel wafers, birds custard, lion bars, terry chocolate orange, Robinson barley water, oxo, mango chutney, pickled onions, too many to list. It’s awesome. I spend a crap load of money on that section alone. Only thing is the Irn Bru is always flat. Guess it doesn’t travel well.
Living in the US, I order my chocolates and crisps from the UK on Amazon. I think that speaks volumes. Too much artificial stuff in US foods. Oh, the Oklahoma State Fair each year has a booth of homemade root beer. So refreshing.
I'm from the USA, live in the UK now for 6 years and haven't been home since. I recently found root beer at the Chinese supermarket and have really been enjoying it. But it's A&W, not the best, still good in a pinch. The best ones are the small scale breweries who make smaller batches that u get in local specialty shops. I bet you had one of these kinds in the states! Hope you did.
I got some root beer in Aldi recently. One gulp and put the rest down the drain. It smelled & tasted like mouthwash. YEUCHHH! But I love watching your travels around Scotland.
Scot = since I'm from the USA, I thoroughly enjoyed this. I don't disagree with your assessments on these articles much. And since you were here for a while you know that there are thousands upon thousands of American "snacks". After being in Europe a couple of times I definitely agree on the chocolate factor. IF I do Hershey's at all it is with almonds. Seems to help the chocolate. Twinkies have so many jokes about them(shelf life of thousands of years, eat one every day and you will live forever, etc. due to the high level of preservatives) but what I have noticed is that it is the kids and the 'kid in us' Americans (especially it seems college-age types) that like/love and occasionally binge on Twinkies due to I believe, the HIGH sugar content. I can eat a couple and then not want/have another one for years. They are truly a developed taste and a sort of sugar 'dope'. Thanks for the video. PS don't know if you know but there are as many or more 'home brewed' brands of root beer around in the US as there are major brands. I've tried probably 6 or 7 of the local root beers (at county/state fairs) and found a couple that in my taste opinion are better than the major brands by far, but are very hard to come by. ATB
Is Root Beer like our Ginger Beer ? IF, it is, i do like Ginger Beer. When i was growing up in Renfrew, Ginger Beer as well as Irn-Bru would catch the back of your throat, it doesn`t do that now and i`m going back to the 50`s & 60`s.
Hi Andy, Root Beer isn't to everyone's taste. It's traditionally made from the root bark of the sassafras tree or sarsaparilla. Every sip reminds me of the time I was living near Washington DC, watching the baseball on TV. 👍
@@PlanesTrainsEverything Hi Scott, i always thought root beer was the same as our ginger beer. Sarsparilla eh ? I remember that from my childhood here. We used to be able to buy that here. Not seen it for years and i`m 70 now.
As an American, I literally lol’d at your reactions to some of our favorites snacks. I love these videos. Please keep doing them!

But I do love those flavored Snyder pretzels. Another acquired taste I guess! From Colorado.

Totally agree on the A&W - so many better brands! From Colorado.

I did the same with the root beer I bought in the States. It reminded me of the stuff you rub on aching muscles. (Oil of wintergreen?)

as an american i have no idea who romeo miller is
What’s the t-shirt mate?
Eeeu....warm root beer.... A&W root beer comes served in a "Frosty Mug" and using it as a mouthwash between samples..no no.
Twinkies taste better battered and deep fried.
Do you prefer root-beer more than Irn Bru?😉
