Amber I have a Gil plate that doesn’t work, the paint just drys and when I put a layer over and place my paper down that paint drys to and I get nothing☹️. I think it’s a dry plate but how do I get it to work please help
Hi, Anna! Interesting, it sounds like your paint is drying too quickly. What type of paint and gel plate are you using? It could be that you need to use more paint. However, if you go too far in the other direction and use too much, then it becomes difficult to pull the print as the paper slides around on the paint. There are extenders on the market that will help your paint dry more slowly. You mix the extender with the acrylic paint and it keeps the paint open and workable for longer. But, first I would try using a bit more paint on the plate.
@@NotableInk I’m using good paint (golden) it’s the plate. I have two and the other works good I just don’t know. If I get another plate which one would you recomend
@@annajavier5712 Ah, I see, I misunderstood. My 8x10 gel plate is the Jane Davenport Gelli Arts plate and the 5 x 7 plate is made by Gel Press. I also have some Gel Press mini shapes too. I love both brands and don't see a difference in how they perform. I don't think you can go wrong with either of those brands. There is a Gel Plate Conditioner product made by Ranger, Dylusions Dyan Reavely line. Here's a little blurb: "This conditioner is a gentle yet effective cleanser that acts as a stain remover and a moisture replenishing agent for your plates." I haven't tried it, but it's something you can check out. www.simonsaysstamp.com/product/Ranger-GEL-PLATE-CONDITIONER-jea60055-jea60055 As far as the size goes, that's totally up to your preference and what you'll be using the prints for. I'm currently trying to decide between a 12 x12 and 9x11 plate. I'd like to be able to print edge to edge on 8.5 x 11 sheets and scan them in for digital products. I'm leaning towards the 12 x 12 in case I decide to offer scrapbook size paper. I hope that helps! Happy printing!!
LindsaytheFrugalCrafter has an old video about 5-7 yrs ago, that goes into great depth about caring for gel plates, even making your own; check it out! Her clear packing tape for dried up acrylic paint on plates works like a charm! I think she used a veg oil, it’s been awhile since I viewed it. 😄💕
This is very encouraging. I like your ideas for rescuing a piece that doesn't quite work. As for the swirl background with the stars, I did like the bright green behind. We all have our own preferences!
Love the die cut stars out of the larger print!! I have made some pretty 🤦♀️ ugly and odd prints but have used sections of them on cards as well! Great video...👍❤️
Great vid Amber, with helpful géo printing tips!! 🤩🥰👍🏾 Loved the cards created; I use clear packing tape to remove those stubborn acrylic remnants on my gel press that refuse to come up after numerous pulls. Do you leave your gel press on the acrylic blocks permanently and store them away that way?? Thanks for sharing!! 😄👍🏾
Thanks, Gwen! I love the tape trick too! I only store them on the acrylic blocks if I know I'm going to use them again in the next couple days. Otherwise I store them in the clamshell. It's safer for me as I'm likely to put something sharp on top and ruin them.

This makes me so happy! Amazing vid. Stay safe! 👍👍👍
Thank you!
Great tip on the die cutting. Those stars and words do look great cut out of that paper

Love the video! I didn't think the original was a fail, my personal taste but it would have been a success for me:)
Thanks so much, Susan! A definite fail as a galaxy, but too right, not a fail at all depending on how you use it.
