Sunlight, Nichirin blades, Muzan, or wisteria poison are the only things capable of killing demons. Muzan is the progenitor of demons giving his dominance over them all. The nichirin material crafted into blades are naturally infused with the power of the sun. Wisteria, which are poisonous in real life, can kill low level demons if the dose is high, demonstrated by Shinobu Vs the spider daughter. We've seen Tamayo mention that Muzan can also kill demons, remember when a demon mentions Muzan's name a curse would kill them, it happened to the demon girl with the balls (pause). When people are telling you the only ways demons can die, is just within the context of, demon Vs demon slayer, so the only way a demon can die in that situation is by sunlight or their blades.

No the episode we were talking about were episode 1 of the "Mugen Train Arc" titled "Flame hashira Kyojuro Rengoku" it's anime only content (it wasn't in the manga) that takes place right before movie chronologically, then you skip episodes 2-7 which is a recap of the movie "Mugen Train". Then you start Season 2 with episode 1 of the "Entertainment District Arc" titled "Sound hashira Tengen Uzui" And don't skip the movie ending song as it hits different knowing the context of the movie.

It is really interesting to see the contrast between the demon and the hashira meetings. Ubuyashiki’s voice brings warmth and comfort, while he allows his followers to express their opinions even if they disagree with him. Muzan is the complete opposite.

Also, remember to skip the outro of the first episode or else you'll get heavily spoiled of the movie, and I wouldn't want that!! 28:24 It's hilarious and makes SO much sense that the 2 people who lived in the mountains (Tanjiro and Inosuke) have NO idea what a train is, then you've got Zenitsu having to educate the country bumpkins😂 A reversal of roles for once.
People have said in multiple comments that Muzan is capable of killing his own demons as well, I guess you missed them.
Anyway the meeting is meant to show a contrast to how Muzan handles things verses the Master of the Mansion, remember the Hashira meeting how despite the Hashira having a lot of respect for the Master they were allowed to voice their opinions and have a dialog, and the Master is portrayed as a Loving Father Figure.
Muzan is basically the opposite he rules through fear and intimidating and is an abusive Tyrant, and only sycophants have any hope of surviving long enough to be his tools.
The reason later seasons are shorter is simple. Season 1 contained multiple arcs. From here on, each season concentrates on just one arc each.
I loved the ending of the first season. They left our characters room to breathe and flushed out the world and its many interesting supporting characters while setting up the next major arc nicely.
Lower Moon 5 - Rui was one of Muzan's favorites and gets an asterisk with his ranking.
He had only been a demon for less than 20 years and showed great potential. Rui had no interest in moving up in ranks but was comparable to Lower Moon 1 or 2 in strength. He was also spreading his powers throughout his family making him weaker as an individual and is thought to be a match for a Hashira if he didn't do this(per databook).
Episode 1 of Mugen Train Arc - Mugen Train Movie - First episode of Entertainment District Arc(Double Episode)
The other seasons being shorter is because they didn't stretch out adapting the arcs(except one) of the manga. So there is not a ton of bloat in the other seasons to reach a 12 episode season requirement.

Tbf, the Entertainment district is technically almost 13 episodes long and Swordsmith village is slightly longer than 13 episodes if we count extended episodes.

Demons can also be killed by Muzan. Remember how the ball throwing demon was tricked into saying Muzan's name, and his cells in her formed massive hands that tor her apart.

This is the last episode of season 1, the episode we’d like you to watch before the movie is episode 1 of the mugen train arc (aka episode 1 of season 2). Also Muzan is the only one who can kill demons in any way he pleases because he’s the demon king.
Actually you can kill a demon without nichirin sword, but its way more impractical and inefficient, go back to the episode tanjiro fights his first demon
BTW after train arc watched Entertainment District arc (11 episodes) -> Swordsmith Village arc (11 episodes) -> Hashira Training arc (8 episodes).
Tanjiro is definitely the most gifted Demon Slayer. In just one season he has learned Water Breathing, Hinokami Kagura and RIZZ Breathing
Don't forget he managed to learn some movement in thunder breathing too 😌
Hype when we saw that "Film greenlit" tease was unreal, and somehow the movie beat all my expectations.
Also, it´s not just Zenitsu not being scared. Inosuke grew in a forest, Tanjiro in a small town in the mountains, and Zenitsu in a big city. He knows more than they do.

No you’re good to watch this one! This is the finale to season 1. The next thing to watch is S2E1, then the movie. So you’re not confused, it’s just a different vibe from the last few episodes.

Also Demon Slayer is in the Final Battle Arc, which has two arcs within it. The first arc is the Infinity Castle (which will have the 3 movies). muzan was able to kill the demons. he is the only one who is able to do that without a nichirin sword, but still kill a demon personally. we also hear “i cant regenerate my body”, so it’s good to assume that muzan is basically “the king”
these demons that muzan just killed are all MOSTLY STRONGER THAN RUI. a demon we had a whole little arc for, stronger demons than rui, killed in a few minutes.
biwa is the instrument that the women is playing. when the demon got caught after trying to run, it was muzan who was able to catch up to him that quickly, decapitate him, and come back to the original spot.
i believe this is the right episode? i don’t know what “one episode to watch” is, but i believe you’re talking about the episode to watch before the movie? if so, it’s mugen train arc’s first episode. that is the only episode that did not appear in the movie, because it was unneeded. every episode should be chronological so don’t worry.

Things got weird because episodes 2-7 of season two were a re-release of the Mugen Train movie with episode 1 acting as a prequel episode. The rest of season two is the Entertainment District Arc, season three is the Swordsmith Village Arc, season 4 is the Hashira Training Arc, and they just announced the adaptation of the Infinity Castle Arc which will be a movie trilogy

Hi Luke, just wanna say that I'm a fairly new subscriber, but i've binge-watched your entire Demon Slayer series so far, and I'm so glad you're watching it! Enjoyed your reactions so far! :D I have read many of your comments under each of your vids, and I just wanna reiterate a few things that other people said from various comments in preperation for watching the Mugen Train Arc. (sorry, it's a long a comment T-T)
First off, the episode you just watched was indeed episode 26 aka the finale episode of Season 1. So no, it was not the episode we were referring to that we wanted you to watch.
Secondly, to clarify:
1) there's the Mugen Train movie which was released first (2020)
2) and then there's Season 2 which came after (2021).
Season 2 is divided into two arcs [PLEASE READ CAREFULLY]:
1) the first half of Season 2 is the Mugen Train Arc (7 episodes), which is the Mugen Train movie (mentioned above) readapted/recompiled into a TV series format. The 1st ep of this arc is an anime-orginal episode (and the only anime-orginal episode of Mugen Train Arc), while the remaining 6 episodes are the movie-readapted episodes, so basically more or less the same as the movie.
2) the second half of Season 2 is the Entertainment District Arc (11 episodes). Entertainment District arc starts on episode 8 of Season 2. Sometimes it might be listed as episode 1 of the Entertainment District arc, so don't get it confused with episode 1 of the Mugen Train Arc, which is techincally the very 1st episode of the entire Season 2. I'm not sure how this looks like on Crunchyroll because I don't use it, but I'll leave it to you to figure it out. Basically episode 8 of Season 2 is also episode 1 of the Entertainment District arc.
All in all, Season 2 has a total of 18 episodes.
As for the watch order, while the movie came out first, because the 1st episode of Mugen Train Arc in Season 2 is an anime orignal episode which chronologically in the story of Demon Slayer itself, takes place RIGHT BEFORE the movie, my suggestion for the watch order is:
1. Season 2 - Mugen Train Arc - Episode 1
2. Mugen Train Arc movie
3. Season 2 - Entertainment District Arc (starting from episode 8)
but how you wish to watch it is up to you. Some people say watch ep 1 of mugen train arc AFTER the movie rather than watch before, but i'll leave that decision up to you.
then continue the rest of the series as followed:
4. Season 3 - Swordsmith Village Arc (11 episodes)
5. Season 4 - Hashira Training Arc (8 episodes) [LATEST SEASON!!]
Upcoming:
6. Infinity Castle Arc movie trilogy pt. 1
7. Infinity Castle Arc movie trilogy pt. 2
8. Infinity Castle Arc movie trilogy pt. 3
The second-to-last arc of the entire series to be adapted, the Infinity Castle Arc, will be split into 3 films, a movie trilogy. They have yet to announce the air dates for each film, so be on the lookout in the future.
There's one final arc which has yet to be announced and adapted, whether it will be one last season to end the entire series or a movie, or when it will be released, no one knows yet.

There are 4 ways to kill a demon : cutting its head with a Nichirin blade, exposing it to sunlight, Having Muzan kill them or having another demon absorb them.
Also I love the opposition between Ubuyashiki and Muzan.
The train arc has 7 episodes. 2-7 cover the movie with hardly any changes, just split into tv length episodes so that people who did not see it in theaters could watch it on tv. Episode 1 comes before the movie chronologically, but it was released after the movie. Personally I think the release order is the better way to watch it, but either way is fine and won't be detrimental to your overall enjoyment .
Damn it's finally coming guys, Mugen Train arc, I'm still crying at this movie.

Demon Slayer season one - Tanjiro Kamada, Unwavering Resolve Arc (2019) - which you have already seen
Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train (2020)
Demon Slayer season two - Mugen Train & Entertainment District Arc (2022) (episode 1 then skip to episode 8, episodes 2-7 are the same as the movie)
Demon Slayer season three - Swordsmith Village Arc (2023)
Demon Slayer: The Hashira Training (2024) - followed by the 3 movies that must appear.
So no, it doesn't end as you think, you have many more seasons to watch.

Episode 1 of the 2nd season was the prelude to the start of the movie... It ends where the movie starts... Basically the 2nd season is an EXTENDED version of the movie... Meaning episode 1 of the season was "cut content" when the manga was turned into the movie...

Many people seem to want you to watch the first episode of the anime version of Mugen Train first, but if you follow the order in which it was released, the movie comes first.
Anime ver. Mugen Train Episode 1 is a story made for anime that is not in the original story.
Because I know the content of the movie, I think there are things that I think and feel after watching the first episode, so I wanted you to watch the movie first.🥺

I am glad you are loving the series and like all things you enjoy you don't want it to end thats how I get when I play an amazing game cause its like saying good bye to all the characters you got to know throughout your journey so I totally understand how you feel, but just like a book there is a beginning, middle and end! Don't worry though it will continue to be an amazing series and journey just like you have experienced thus far! And the anime itself isn't over you will just eventually get caught up. As for this episode where you get to see some of what was left of the lower six and just how brutal Muzan actually is we will not tolerate one mistake and he will not tolerate being accused of anything. 18:35 Luke ask and you shall receive! 😂 Gotta love how Inosuke & Tanjiro doesn't know what a train is although understandable it is still quite funny!
The episode we are talking about is called “Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku” and then the movie after that. Episodes 2-7 of that episodic style is what the movie is but chopped up into episodes for easier viewing for some others

As a Japanese fan, I would have preferred to watch Mugen Train in the order provided by ufotable, if possible...but either way, my feelings of support for Luke-san haven't changed, so I'm looking forward to the next video! 👍❤️

We are going to witness one of the greatest anime movies. It's also the highest earned anime movie of all time and highest earned movie of 2020 ( including Hollywood )
I know Im a bit late but episodes 2-6 of season 2 is the movie. 1st episode was an added bit to give you more of Rengoku's backstory before before he is featured in the movie.
As for the length of the seasons. Its more each season has covered 1 arc of the Manga. This first bit had a lot of world building and getting the ball rolling so that is why it was so long.
Haters will always hate. That's it. Demon Slayer is the most influential anime as of now. Everyone is liking and loving it.

Zenitsu being the way he is at the end of the episode is really just because he grew up a city boy, so he’s already familiar with trains and modern life in general, unlike Tanjiro and Inosuke. Still seems weird they wouldn’t know about the sword laws though. Swords were made illegal to carry for anyone other than former lords, military, and law enforcement in Japan like 30-40 years before the era they’re in, so I feel like even they would know they aren’t technically allowed to carry swords, but maybe Zenitsu is just more aware of laws or the societal norms around him (excepts regarding women lmao)
Demon Slayer Sunday (for my timezone) let's gooo! 10:27 Yes, demons can be killed by sunlight and the swords only, BUT Muzan is the exception. He's the only demon who can kill other demons. Because he's the one who ''made''' them.
So a normal random demon cant kill another demon, but Muzan can decapitate and kill other demons or use his blood inside of them to make them explode. Like the demon girl who used balls to kill, exploded due to the curse of saying Muzan's name, whereby Muzan's blood inside of her revolted and killed her.
Yes it's episode 1 of season 2 and then the movie. Chronologically it's set for episode 1 to take place before the events of the movie, though it's anime only. The episode was released after the movie though, and came out when they started airing the movie as split up episodes in the beginning of season 2. I hope that explanation kind of makes sense lol that's why a lot of people recommend watching it before the movie. Also to answer the demon death question, it's because it was Muzan killing them. Muzan is the outlier here lol because they have his blood, he turned them into demons, he can kill them. It's how the woman from early on in season 1 was killed when Lady Tamayo made her say his name, the curse killed her through Muzan's cells in her blood. So he can even kill them remotely. He just knows when they've done something lol
One thing to remember is the passage of time. The scene where Muzan killed the Lower Moons took place “a few months ago” from right now, as Tanjiro and company are recovering (which gives us an idea of how long Tanjiro’s been with Shinobu). The three of them also spent an unspecified amount of time recovering at the Wisteria House (but we can assume it was at least a few weeks to recover from broken ribs). In other words, including the 2 years Tanjiro’s spent training on the mountain, he’s spent the vast majority of his time on screen training and recovering from injuries.

Episode 2-7 are the movie, the first episode gives more character insight into the hashira to make the relationship with him and his family and his personal believes more comprehensible.
Also the character did not have much screen time in the manga, so to balance it out with the other hashira they added some extra.

Tanjiro is one of my favorite main characters because he is also a plot device; a catalyst for other characters! Both Zenitsu and Inosuke were driven to action watching Tanjiro's dedication, and we saw Kanao decide to live her life according to her almost inaudible whispers of the heart because of his intervention. I appreciated how you highlighted this fact with your giggling at him pestering Kanao despite how she continued to dismiss him. However, it doesn't stop there! You'll see the "drive to action" that Kamado Tanjiro really is in the upcoming movie and seasons. I'm so excited to see it!
Demon Slayer is one of the rare anime that drove me to their mangas! It's really great, just not a personal favorite (yet; currently under consideration, honestly) that I would recommend right away. I have others that I'd want to show off first, but we'd get there eventually!

It was decided to make 8 episodes for the train arc because they are the same as the movie (some extra material), and because they used a lot of the same material (movie and season) they were able release the following season fast.
No, this is not the episode that people told you to watch before or after the movie! The episode you have to watch before the movie is episode 1 of season 2, part 1, which is called ‘Mugen Train Arc’ consisting of 7 episodes. You only have to watch the first one and then the film (because the other 6 episodes are the episodic adaptation of the film). You choose whether to watch the whole ‘Mugen Train Arc’ season or watch the first episode of it and then the movie. They are the same thing, except for the first episode which narrates things that happen before the events of the film. Search for ‘Mugen Train Arc episodes’ and just watch the first episode and then decide if you want to continue with the remaining 6 episodes or watch the movie.
After the movie (or the 6 episodes that readapt what happens in the movie in the Mugen Train Arc) there is an 11 episode season which is the second part of season 2 and is called ‘Entertainment District Arc’, then there is the third season consisting of 11 episodes which is called ‘Swordsmith Village Arc’ and then there is the fourth season which is called ‘Hashira Training Arc’ consisting of 8 episodes. Now the fourth season has just ended and they have announced that 3 films will be released soon to adapt the anime ending. it's not a short anime. 😉😊

I believe the lack of episodes is probably because the studio is more about quality over quantity. The lack of non-canon filler makes it better to me. They've been faithful to the original and as someone who read all the manga before even hearing about the anime I've been very impressed with their adaptation. It's sad that it's short, but the quality of both story and art is very much worth it. I think I would be sad for the characters if they have to suffer through hundreds of episodes of fighting demons. At least we get a cathartic ending.

I think you just need to learn that seasons are usually 12-13 episodes. There are occasionally seasons that have fewer or more than that. They will air in what are called the winter, spring, summer, and fall seasons. I think it’s easy to confuse airing season with production season, the number of episodes green lit.
Longer series will be broken down into cours - basically two 12-13 episode seasons that may either run consecutively or separately, e.g., 12 episodes in the spring and 12 episodes in the fall.
Then there are arcs. There’s no hard set rule on the number of episodes that make up an arc, or how many arcs are in a cour.
The first “season” has multiple arcs. After that, they start adapting an arc per season, with the Mugen Train Arc being the movie, and later split into episodes for the second “season.”
The reason there are eight episodes in the latest is because that’s all they needed to adapt that arc from the manga. The alternative would be anime-only filler to just bring the count up to 12 episodes.

"Demons can only be killed by swords or sunlight" Well, Muzan is a special case ofcourse, it's his blood that keeps them alive, and he still has power over that blood, which means that it makes sense for him to disable whatever it is that allows them to regenerate and heal.
Honestly, Muzan is how you do a "totally evil" villain well. There are so many "demon kings" in anime, and none of them are memorable, but Muzan? Muzan you see as an actual character, a part of the story, a goal to reach, a mountain to climb, you hate him and want to see him defeated. And once we do inevitably beat him we will feel triumph. The dude is just terrifying and sadistic and a proper antagonist and threat rather than being a joke like they are in 99% of overpowered MC anime nowadays.
Luke, after the movie there are 11 episodes of Entertainment District, 11 Episodes of Swordsmith Village, 8 episodes of Hashira Training and then the 3 upcoming movies. So we still have 30 episodes plus 3 more movies after the episode and movie you're watching next. We're just nearing the halfway mark now. In answer to why there were so many delays unfortunately, it was most likely due to the pandemic. I have no doubt the 8 and 11 episode seasons would've been stretched to 13 each if not for the pandemic.

When comments said a demon can only be killed by a demon slayer sword or sunlight, I believe they meant these are the only options for demon slayers (although Shinobu actually uses poison). But Muzan has the ability to kill demons. He can destroy them. You’ve also now seen the Infinity Castle. The demon with the biwa next to Muzan has powers connected to the castle.

the movie was re-released in episodic format before the second season arc began, the episodic format had some extra scenes and a full prologue episode that gave the flame hashira some more development, that is probably the episode that people is talking about you watching before the movie, the episodic format of the movie as I said is exactly like the movie but divided in 7 parts including the prologue episode, so you can either watch the first episode of the episodic format and then react to the full movie or just watch it episodically, after that the second season starts witch is the entertainment district arc, followed by the third season, swordsmith village arc and finally the fourth season, hashira training arc after that we all have to wait for the new movie.

Basically Muzan is the boss demon and have dominence over them, hence he is also able to kill demons. I mean boss of the immortal monster must be capable of killing his minion cause one riot and its over for him as well😅😅

season 1 are like 3/4 arcs in just a season, the next season are just 1 arc per season, that's why they are so short, and the quality, believe us, gets stupidly better
