Great to see everyone getting to enjoy the layout.
Some history for you on why you see 2 rail O scale.
Back in the day Jeff Freeman and my father others had built the first layout that was built with AHM 2 rail trains that were offered back in the 70s. AHM was a local manufacturer in Philadelphia. They Donated some of the earlier trains and track for layout.
The layout was only 30 feet long and ran along the window. Throughout the years Jeff keeped with layout and it grow and he stopped working on layout in the early 80s due to health issues.
Others keep up with the layout and has grown Throughout the years.
Jeff passed away in 2020 but his wife still lives down the road from the museum.
She had told me it was Jeff's passion was to build things during the summer to put on the layout for the winter at Christmas. It was something he looked forward to.
I was lucky enough as a kid to go with my father to help out. I was 8 years old back then.

Harry, I should talk to you before every video! It never ceases to amaze me how much you know about the hobby.

Harry it doesn’t surprise me at all. The influence that your father, you, your brother and the rest of your family, have had on the hobby is second to none. Thank you all, for keeping the hobby alive and doing so well today, my friend. 🚂

Tony there are lots of history with our family and the hobby.
I remember the first club dad was part of when I was a kid.
It was O scale club on walnut Street and second street in Lansdale above the American legion.
It was around 68 or 69.
Two rail was much bigger then.

We use to have a big display at Bevels Hardware. It was quite a display, put time marches on, Bobby Daniel's had a stroke and sold the business. Who know what became of the trains.

Great Video. Can’t wait to see it, take our Grandson & make my own video. I hope this season’s is as large as the one you captured here. We live in Reading area now but used to live in Kennett Square and visited the museum and road the local tourist train out of North Wilmington, back in the early 90’s

Just finally able to watch this video. Great video, and loved hearing you on the Matt and Matt podcast recently.
I run my layout a lot with the lights off. I remember when I was about 3 or 4 seeing my uncles American flyer layout in the dark. Which is why I prefer silhouettes in my passenger cars as well. My uncle told me that our toy trains should be seen in the dark and light because in real life they run in dark and light. So I try to do just that.
    Keep making great content 👍

Thank you for such an awesome comment! Nothing better then watching an illuminated coach interior as it passes by in the dark.

What a great concept to this layout. So much to view being at a low position. Kid friendly also...we need to keep them interested. Thanks Tony...looking forward to more of your films. 👌

Thanks for bringing us along Tony, that looks like quite a sight to see!
Dumb question, and it's OK if you don't know the answer, but do you have any idea who made those O Gauge Maine potato cars? I've been looking for something like that but only see "State of Maine" products, no mention of potatoes, and what fun is that?
    Thanks again!

My Pleasure, this is a really fun layout. I assume you mean the Boxcar @ 6:48 ? I'm sorry, I cannot find anything on it. METCA did a Potato car run with Lionel in 2020 - Item 2001210.

@@TheRambles Thanks for checking Tony. The thing is I've got 12 N Gauge potato cars I run under a small tree at Christmastime, my "Spud Run." I've been looking for some O Gauge cars marked the same but no luck so far. I'll keep lookin', you never know!
