      @SAMURAI 武士 That's what a highly uninformed (or ignorant) person would say. The below linked video shows a lot of stats that demonstrate that middle class and poor have also seen strong growth over the past 30 years. Educate yourself:

    Big secret of Chile's "neoliberal" "miracle": The copper industry. The state mining company was nationalized under Pinochet and state-owned until now, when it is the world's biggest copper producer. The company now has partnerships with private entities, but the government still pays critical roles. Copper was a key engine of the "neoliberal" economy, especially as global demand and prices soared in recent decades. Mining has accounted for over 50% of export earnings and 30+% of government revenues. Who knows how much worse things would be if it was under private ownership.

    There is a reason why Nordic countries fuse capitalism and socialism together. They know that a free market brings economic growth for a nation & welfarism will care for working people as well. Free range capitalism & socialism is a horrible thing.

    • @joeterzio7175
      @joeterzio7175 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      This is actually completely false. Neo-liberalism is a laissez-faire system of economics where state activity is restricted to providing public goods and services and safeguarding private ownership. So it's the exact opposite of what you wrote.

    The brats of 1973 have returned, the spoiled beneficiaries of so many very difficult choices and sacrifices of their parents and grandparents. Those sacrifices yielded the five decades of unmitigated prosperity and stability which are all the brats have ever known, but which were otherwise largely unknown in South America. These children lack any understanding of what they do or the ramifications of their immature, foolish ideas, and they now leave for the nation's adults only two remaining viable choices: a repeat of 1973's ugliness, or an irreversible descent into Venezuela-style 'social justice.' Ojala, mi patria!

    The reason why people live not so good in chile is not because of “privatization” or free market. It’s because of government regulation pushes prices high and because of a very high corporate tax rate of 28% that pushes private investment down and the lack of private investment and capital accumulation pushes wages down.

      C'mon man, during Allende's rule there were heavier regulations on private companies and living standards were high. The reason living standards are bad is because private companies have privatized everything making it impossible to attain a good living standard, because the more a few people get, the less everyone else has.
