  • I started leatherworking in July of 2020. This is the leatherworking starter kit I purchased to begin my journey as well as a few other beginner leatherworking tools I picked up. Some are complete garbage. Others are alright. In this video I give you a rundown of what is worth buying and what is worth skipping.

Thanks for the honest info. Good helpful stuff for a late bloomer getting back into (starting) leathercraft since last doing it in Summer camp as a kid!!

I'm late to your videos, but I am just starting out now. I did exactly what you did and bought an Amazon starter toolkit. Thanks for the helpful videos!

Great videos!!! Lots of very useful information for someone just starting out or getting back to the craft after a looonnng time away! (High School) Question I have is where did you go to get your logo stamps? Seen plenty of ads for them, but don't want to just start throwing money away to find a decent supplier. Thanks in advance for your time.

Thanks for your videos. Very informative. I’ve always wanted to get into this hobby. What is your creative process and how do you come up with a design. It’s a little intimidating but I really want to pursue leathercrafting.

Thank you! I would definitely start by using other people's designs while you learn the basics. I have a bunch of free ones on my website but just google free leather templates and you should find a ton of them.

I'm just getting into this and looking into buying a kit. I'm actually nervous about buying a cheap set because I really want to like leatherworking. I would hate to buy and it actual frustrate me too the point I quit.

That's a fair point. Take a look at Lonsdale Leather. They put together nice beginner kits at different levels, all of which are better than an Amazon kit. Otherwise I'd look to Tandy for decent entry level tools.

    Nice n helpful review.
Truthful indeed. I equally started with that basic pack from Amazon, though I bought other standalone higher quality tools too.
    Regards

It's a good pack to figure out if you like leather working or not, but if you do, you'll want to start upgrading right away.
      Thanks for watching!

I've just started following you. Do you happen to have a facebook group or discord or anything for leathercraft discussion and such?

I don't have any of my own but the two communities I've found helpful are r/leathercraft on Reddit and "Leather crafter Tips & Share Your Work" on Facebook.
