Ngl, the only thing I remember about this version is the cool symbiote suit gimmick where you get a quick time event to take it off every time you want to swap out of it, mainly cause the further you are in the story, the longer it takes to remove it.
Yeah it's completely absent in the PS3 Version, but i agree with you, especially towards the end when peter punches the ground in pain and the symbiote is screaming.
Bruce Campbell's narration was way better on PS2 than on PS3. On PS2 we got gems like: "What would Spider-Man be without his spider powers? I'll tell ya. He'd be... Man. Is that reallt what you came here to play? Man 3? I don't think so! Now go ahead and crawl up this wall. You know? Like *Spider*-Man?" The PS3 version had nothing close to as great as that.
I actually think the PS2 version is better than the PS3 version. At least in terms of functionality and the minor things. The PS3 version though is so hilariously bad.
One thing I loved storywise about this game is no loose ends are in this version unlike the next gen version. The next gen version, kraven escapes, kingpin escapes, Calypso escapes, carlyle escapes, it actually angers me Peter let these villains all get away and never go after them, especially carlyle who is a terrorist. In the ps2 version, ALL villains are defeated and dealt with. Kraven is pinned in a grate and the police arrest him. Carlyle is defeated and webbed up for the police to get him. Morbius is cured and can live a normal life. Shriek is eventually overtaken by her powers and passes away at Connor's lab. No villain is left roaming free. So this version imo is better storywise
One thing that I remember is Kingpin being defeated in the PS3 version using the Black Suit, and so is Kraven. Edit: Calypso isn't even in the PS3 version, what are you on about?
I played the PS3 and PS2 version, i prefer the PS2 Version, the webswinging is more fluid, it's more laid back and chill, sure it's obviously a downgrade in terms of capability but i just think it's better. In the PS2 version there's also insanely cool sequences that happen when you remove the black suit, screaming from the symbiote, peter punching the ground whilst trying to remove the suit clearly in distress, which is completely absent in the PS3 Version.
i played the pc version originally as a kid, and i loved it then obviously because i was a kid. but i liked the ps2 version a lot when i first played it and still do. but now that i play the ps3 version i genuinely dont get how i couldve like this as a kid but it still does hold memories.

So weird, haven’t seen this game in like 15 years yet somehow I feel like I was playing it yesterday. I even finished Bruce Cambells line about black going with everything. Memory is a crazy thing
Cuz like a lot of games in the late 2000s, they were outsourced the crap out of with the last gen consoles while the 7th gen versions got to be the main games. Treyarch made the 7th gen game while Vicarious Visions made everything else. The Treyarch version I much prefer cuz when I played the Vicarious version first, I missed having the rag doll effects and the crazy stylish moves you could do. Treyarch version has the craziest moves with the black suit with a move called ROFL Copter and you can literally beat people in the face with X, X, Y (mash). Also the New Goblin fight on Vicarious sucks compared to Treyarch where halfway through you can swing freely recreating some of the movie fight, seriously it friggin sucks
It's crazy, i played spiderman 3 on my ps2 and i dont remember the city looking like that lol back then those were good graphics. How far we have come. Cant wait for marvel spiderman 2.
I didn't have Spiderman 2 for more than a couple of days because it was a rental (rip blockbuster) but I had this game for a couple of years and played it a lot. One of the major things that stuck with me about it was how incredible eerie it felt. It starts off as mostly standard fare, but when you get the black suit it almost turns into horror game. The delirious state you're in when you first wake up with the symbiote and have to fight some random thugs was oddly creepy compared to the outright sinister version of the scene from The movie. Then there's people being stuffed inside of eggs in the sewers by Connors, Morbious, the apocalypse gang, and the overall gray nature of the city.
I have a lot of nostalgia for this game. I beat it twice. The first time just I just played through the story. The 2nd time, I decided this would be the first game I completed 100% after reading on a phony cheat code site that you could play as Venom if you did so. I did everything there was to do in the game including taking a photo of every type of enemy which SUCKED. Still fun times

funny enough the PS2 version might be the best since the selling point (the symbiote) actually makes you stronger and you can switch between the two. Also the Morbius and Shriek plot has more to do with the symbiote plot than the Kingpin and Scorpion stuff.
The H-Bombers weren't a real thing in the comics but Luke Carlyle, the Mad Bomber, was. He was basically just a guy using Doc Ock so he could copy his tech and become a second Doc Ock (or third if we count the female one that was around in the 90s). I like this game for childhood reasons but I prefer the HD version for it's better gameplay, being a precursor to Web of Shadows, but this one has a bit better plot.
I’d like to state, that the dialogue being cut off early is not a 60fps issue and is also present when playing native on a PS2. The dialogue just isn’t timed properly with the cutscenes

Just a small little fact: The H-Bombers *were* actually an original creation for the Spider-Man 3 video-game! Not really sure WHY the developers thought it to be an important inclusion, but nevertheless, they're there!
I feel like the PS2 version of Spider-Man 3 handled Symbiote Spider-Man much better then the next gen games and even the movie itself. A lot of cutscenes show how much more agressive and violent he is when he wears the suit. Something I feel like the movie and PS3/XBOX 360/PC versions didn't show as well.
I never understood why They gave Spider-Man that horrible white sheen/lighting on the side. It became a really bad trend for a bit for Characters In Games to have that weird lighting. I played the 360 version, which Is probably one of My most disappointing and lacklustre Games of all time. Whenever I see the PS2 version, I do wonder what happened. Most of these people werent gamers when spiderman 3 came out, and yes it functioned way better on the ps2, the ps3 version was a glitching nightmare. The ps3 version was aiming at being more visually impressive. The game was also made very different for both consoles. Gameplay over visuals all day long for me.
I would argue that the PS2 version is far more superior than the PS3 version. I actually found it to be more enjoyable and easier to play as a kid! When I tried the PS3 version... 12:38, actually im pretty sure that’s always been the issue with the ps2 version, i had 2 copies and they both had audio that always cuts off. The psp version doesn’t seem to have this problem, dunno about the wii version.
@15:13, i thought that was a rule too. I remember the rumors of Bruce Campbell as mysterio in 3 or 4 and it messed with me, since we had mysterio in the 2nd game
I remember playing this by renting it. Beat nearly the whole game without leveling up or buying the perks 😂 It wasn't until the final Venom fight I realized there was a skill tree 💀
It makes me so happy to see someone play this game, for me is way better than the ps3/pc version, is a fun game that i played hours and hours back on my ps2, man....we where happy in those days
Cool little thing is when your regular he takes fall damage, but with the black suit the floor cracks. Also how the symbiote if worn to long has to come off or you die.
I remember liking this version of the game for a bit back in the day, definitely better than the xbox 360/ps3 version, but it doesn’t really feel like it holds up that well. Thank god for Insomniac’s series. It is really hard waiting for Spider-Man 2 PS5.
I own both versions and I really like PS3 version over PS2 in my opinion felt as I had more tp do I swing around like high and faster got launch myself from daily bulge and there new game plus if the one negative I give PS3 is playing as New Goblin quick time I fail that a lot as a kid
the swinging system on the ps3/xbox 360 version is so clunky and slow, it takes over a minute to swing to the top of the empire state, whereas in ultimate spiderman/web of shadows, you could scale the building in around 20 seconds. utter trash
I remember owning a special edition version of this port that came with behind the scenes footage... of the wrong version of the game lmao. That said, gotta commend Vicarious Visions for working with what they had.
It's not that your running your game at 60fps and that's why dialogue is getting cut off because I have the physical disc of this game and it happens to me too the game is just poorly programmed 🤷♂️
For the longest time I thought I had mandela effect or something because all the clips from Spider-Man 3 come from ps3 and pc and I was thought no way nostalgia is blinding me that much
I'm pretty sure there's a majority vote that the PS2/Wii versions of this game are WAY better than PS3/360. This version just felt more fun to play and had a better balance overall and the Black Suit actually felt like a power up since you feel so much weaker without it. You get all these upgrades for base Spider-Man which yes are really helpful and are fun to use but the Black Suit felt much more powerful and I think that's a pretty important thing. And let's all be honest here, the web swinging feels more natural and fun then in the PS3/360 versions. You feel so damn heavy there.
That’s sad. Where’s the rag doll effects? Where’s the crazy combos not present in the Vicarious Visions version? Treyarch reigns supreme here. The Treyarch version still ain’t great because a lot of games in the late 2000s were outsourced the crap out of on last gen while 7th gen got all the advertising. Also the freedom of movement in Vicarious compared to Treyarch in free roam and boss fights suck. Seriously they friggin suck.
@@AnthonyPoole246 Well if that majority vote is being objective, they’re wrong. Then again, what truly messed up the third game was the outsourcing of it everywhere. The Spider-Man 2 game got outsourced too but Fizz Factor only made their version for one platform: PC and it was utter crap while Treyarch as we know it reigned supreme. What happened with the third game is that Vicarious made their game for 3 ports and Treyarch made their game for 3 ports. This was not a generational thing cuz Shrek 2 the movie game also had an outsourcing problem. I 100% garuntee that if Treyarch were fully developing Spider-Man 3 for every platform, the 7th gen version would be identical to the last gen version in terms of gameplay and the graphics would age alot slower. Hope that explains alot. Not trying to keep you from your fun, it’s just shocking to me even less people have figured out what happened with the Spider-Man licenses than I thought.
Even if sometimes this game feels a bit odd, as a kid I did love the game, specially the symbiote suit. At some point I wanted to replay it on a ppsspp emu, it was almost identical except for the attacks when you had the black suit on witch sucked. I also noticed when you swing in this game, depending on where you hold the analog, spoodeyman will shoot the webs in the direction you pointed, witch is kinda cool for it's time right? The swinging in this game was a bit weird because of the camera, better than the PC or XBOX version tbh, and also that little hiccup when you swing it's kinda annoying sometimes.
I was super spoiled by the playable Green Goblin in Spider-Man the Movie Game that when I got to Spider-Man 2, I was expecting a playable Doc-Ock, and searched for him for ages to no avail. The same thing happened with Spider-Man 3 for PS2. I was certain that collecting all the meteorite fragments would unlock a playable Venom. This was sadly false, as well.
When i was a kid and didn't know any better, i played this game many times and thought to myself it was a great game. Thinking about it now this game wasn't so bad. Still remember the time i struggled fighting the lizard boss fight.
It's a clumsy game I have fond memories of and still enjoy playing, but it is admittedly clumsy when it comes to swinging, unpleasant with black suit removal button prompts, and combat is a notably stiffer repackage of Ultimate Spider-Man, but somehow competent. Not something I would recommend to others save for an experimental experience, but I do like seeing people who enjoy it.
I really like these videos on the ports to lesser systems since they're really different games. Will you cover the ports to the DS and PSP too? Web of Shadows on ps2 and Edge of Time on DS are completely different.
No, it isn’t that bad really let’s be honest, but it is born as the son to Spider-man 2, if you had a master piano player who was arguably the world’s best pianist, and her had a son who was good, but just it’s going to measure up to their Dad, and then to make this allegory work best, spider man 3 for the ps2 is often mistaken for his twin and far inferior brother spider man 3 for the ps3, to the point where the superior brother is seen as inferior as he is shorter/last generation console
somethings that are in this game are shown in the most recent spiderman by insomniac for example the acrobatics during air time gives you adrenaline for your super moves and in marvel spiderman too, i get why this game is terrible and i don't even want to go in the research of the spider emblems without a proper map but it was my first spiderman game and i loved it even with its flaws
PS2's version I liked enough. I personally am an outlier in that I liked the first game the most, just because it felt more like a unique experiance that was part of the film just not fully. I think overall S-M3 on PS2 is a decent time if you're just wanting something in the Rami world.
Can you swing off poles? Can you use that swing move with 2 web lines? Can you hang upside down? And which swinging is faster? I already know the answer.
I played it for the Wii. I liked it. I didn't play it or love it as much as Spider-Man 2 for GameCube - for its time that was the pinnacle of video game technology. I do wish the black suit wasn't a transition thing - I wish that it stayed on throughout certain missions and cutscenes. But the bosses were all pretty cool and it was fun for what it was. Could have been better, but certainly could have been a lot worse.
My biggest issue with this version of the game is when and where the music plays, it’s horribly out of place 90% of the time compared to the 360-PS3 versions
I'm not gonna lie this game is a guilty pleasure of mine played it a lot as a child even having access to a ps3 I didn't even buy that version cause I preferred this one more lol
Fun Fact: the 360/PS3/PC version of Spider-Man 3 was made by Treyarch who made all 3 movie games including the 7th gen version as well as Ultimate Spider-Man and Web of Shadows before they started making Call of Duty for normies.
It was technically better than the PS3/XBOX 360 version, if you could look past the Graphics. The Black Suit felt great, the mechanics and Web Swinging were fun, the combat was neat, most enemy levels were pretty solid. I really liked the Lizard Battle and Morbius fights. The finale was underwhelming but it was what it was.
It was so bad and disappointing. I remember wanting it only because i didnt have a PS3 yet at that time. I was impatient and felt bad about having my mom waste money on it. Played the Ps3 version some time later and couldnt believe how different it was.
The PS2 version had better combat, boss fights, gameplay and black suit abilities The black suit felt like a complete new suit instead of a reskin Trying to remove it by mashing buttons always felt like i am recreating the movie scene
I got this game for my 7th birthday, I thought it was amazing at that age. The music was awesome! I had only played the first and never got to play 2 until years later so this one was a huge step up from the first game. I got mad at the second Lizard fight and Sadly, I pulled my ps2 off my fat tv outta anger and broke the whole system. I never got to beat it and still haven’t.

So pc and ps3 are the same? Ignoring those what is the best version to emulate that would give the best graphics?
They turned Connors to fing fang fum
It's fin fang foom
@@mickeymouse7726 Bing bang boom
Kiss kiss bang bang
For the longest time I thought I had mandela effect or something because all the clips from Spider-Man 3 come from ps3 and pc and I was thought no way nostalgia is blinding me that much
My favorite Central Park is in Ultimate Spider-Man game. Just so many cool details.
I noticed the lizard in this games looks very similar to the one that was supposed to show up in Spider-Man 2. I wonder if they reused the model
@@TheN7Spartan Sorry for having fun
18:54 great timing for the idle animation LOL
This is the version I played growing up I can't say it's bad but of course mines just nostalgia
2:12 Spider-Man sees civilian strapped to a bomb.
*Proceeds to do a swing kick*
In Bruce’s defense Dr.strange was mentioned in spider man 2 (the movie not the game) so I don’t see why hulk can’t be referenced
"DR STRANGE 🙌" "that's taken"
How are you able to emulate this? Nobody has beenable to successfully emulate the PS2 Version for YEARS...
The PSP version of Spider-Man 3 is the first game that I've ever (intentionally) achieved 100% completion in
The psp version was a port of the ps2 and it was amazing to see a game of that size on a psp
I absolutely love how Venom in this game is just Eric Foreman from That 70's Show but with a generic monster filter over every other syllable.
I remember playing it all the time when i was a child, i really like it.
somethings that are in this game are shown in the most recent spiderman by insomniac for example the acrobatics during air time gives you adrenaline for your super moves and in marvel spiderman too, i get why this game is terrible and i don't even want to go in the research of the spider emblems without a proper map but it was my first spiderman game and i loved it even with its flaws
PS2's version I liked enough. I personally am an outlier in that I liked the first game the most, just because it felt more like a unique experiance that was part of the film just not fully. I think overall S-M3 on PS2 is a decent time if you're just wanting something in the Rami world.
Harry at 10:55: hold still so i can chop you in half
15:41 the vulture was in one of the games already and he was going be the villain for spiderman 4
The web swinging is so much better in this version.
Can you swing off poles? Can you use that swing move with 2 web lines? Can you hang upside down? And which swinging is faster? I already know the answer.
How did manage to get the emulator to work? This game in particular doesn’t seem to work on the ps2 emulator.
I remember this game being way better but I was like eight
I played it for the Wii. I liked it. I didn't play it or love it as much as Spider-Man 2 for GameCube - for its time that was the pinnacle of video game technology.
I do wish the black suit wasn't a transition thing - I wish that it stayed on throughout certain missions and cutscenes.
But the bosses were all pretty cool and it was fun for what it was. Could have been better, but certainly could have been a lot worse.
Hey man glad I could be in the live stream 👍
Shop smart shop S mart
YOU GOT THAT
My biggest issue with this version of the game is when and where the music plays, it’s horribly out of place 90% of the time compared to the 360-PS3 versions
In Spiderman 2 for pc he was looking the best and the whole game was looking the best, actually
12:35 It's not the emulation. The dialogue cuts on the PS2 as well. XD
18:41 He looks like Mike Stoklasa from RLM
I'm not gonna lie this game is a guilty pleasure of mine played it a lot as a child even having access to a ps3 I didn't even buy that version cause I preferred this one more lol
I had it for PSP. Even as a kid with a PSP, I could see it was bad
only portable spiderman game with an actual swinging system tho, gotta give it points for that
i remember when I bought this expecting the PS3 graphics on a ps2 slim (silly 12 years old me)
also the game was in Italian !
Pedestrian at 18:45 is a dead ringer for Mike Stoklasa
I had the PSP Version which is kinda similiar to the PS2 Version. And I really kinda enjoyed it :D
similar? it's the exact same version lmao
It is waaaaaay better than the Ps3/360/pc version.
I enjoyed this game back when I had a PS2 despite the imperfections
P.S. Iguanas are lizards
Fun Fact: The PS2/PSP/Wii version of Spider-Man 3 was made by Vicarious Visions. Same peeps who made the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy!
I love that the Last Gen Version of Spider-Man 3 is on 3 systems the PSP, PS2 and Wii plus the psp version is really cool to play on the go
I always thought the H-bombers were supposed to be the pterodecks from the MTV Spider-Man new animated series
Top 10 Central Parks wouldn't be too bad. True Crime New York has a detailed one. Well, it has an almost 1:1 Manhattan to begin with.
I blame AVI ARAD for the failure of the movie and the game
The swinging was definitely worse than SM2.
It was so bad and disappointing. I remember wanting it only because i didnt have a PS3 yet at that time. I was impatient and felt bad about having my mom waste money on it. Played the Ps3 version some time later and couldnt believe how different it was.
Can you do a Loop de Loop in web swinging, or does the game tell you when to let go, too?
The PS2 version had better combat, boss fights, gameplay and black suit abilities
The black suit felt like a complete new suit instead of a reskin
Trying to remove it by mashing buttons always felt like i am recreating the movie scene
I never played the PS2 version of Spider-Man 3 before, but it looks exactly like the Wii version.
I thought the game was cool up until the final boss against Venom.
The hell was that?!
Hooly I don't remember it looking that bad when I was a kid
the cutscenes have a Gmod vibe
That’s a perfect way to put it
@@DiegoReviewsCUTSCENES ARE THE BEST PSP CUTSCENES IVE SEEN. AND THEYRE FOR PS2. WELL OKAY! ITS STORY IS BETTER TOLD AND ITS EXTRA STORY IS TIED SMOOTHLY INTO THE MOVIE SCENES WHICH ARE PERFECTLY DONE!

I remember renting this game after the movie came out. I showed it to my nephew and we both got excited since we really liked playing Spiderman 2 on the gamecube. I popped the PS2 version into my PS3 annnnnd it was a flop for me. I dunno, it felt really downgraded, the map looked like ass, the swinging was different BUT, I did like that Peter takes no fall damage. I eventually got the PS3 version, it was my first ever PS3 game and god damn I love that game. But, I got really disappointed that I couldn’t live after landing a jump off the Empire State Building 😂
I played spiderman 3 PS2 and I played the ps3 version was so glitchy and unplayable to the point I said man screw the PS3 version also the PS2 version lets you fight moribus
H-bomber is an original villain that only appears in this game.
