Also, when older eggs are boiled they’re easier to peel; that oxygen she mentioned forms a layer between the cooked white and the shell, making it a cinch to peel! ☺️

@@mr.technicalisolate9188 The ones that stand, yes, the ones that float, only if you wanna get sick. 😅 I grew up on a farm and got to learn this trick very fast. I never even trust the dates on egg cartons because they usually lie. If it’s past the egg carton date, that’s when I do the float test. Personally I prefer doing it in a taller dish than a bowl (like a drinking glass), that way it’s easier to tell if it’s just standing or is full out floating. ^^

I use the spin method. Spin an egg on the counter on its side, then tap once in the middle of the spinning egg with your index finger. If it starts to wobble and stops easily then it's no good. If it continues to spin, it's fresh. This works for checking how cooked an egg is too. Once you've determined the egg is fresh you can cook it. When you take it out, spin it. If it stops then it's cooked through the yolk.

    • @reubenk1615

In the US and Canada, the eggs are washed so that’s why they need to be refrigerated (washing destroys the other membrane that keeps eggs from being contaminated with salmonella).

Oxygen does not enter the egg or the egg shell what happens is some bacteria decomposes the eggs inside producing gases that then filled that negative pocket where egg used to be. Yes some of the gases are permeable through the eggshell but not all of them and we got to do Escape are then replaced by the atmosphere but it's not just oxygen that goes into the egg overtime.
