SEPTA assistant conductor here!! Really appreciate these detailed videos cause they help with learning interlocks ect for when we go into our promotion class

Glad to be of service. I would have preferred a cleaner window, but considering the detail you’re getting with this, I think that can be overlooked.

Used to ride this line (R5) just about every day 1992-1994, again 1998-1999. Back then it was paper ticket, conductor came through to punch it with odd shapes, walk from car to car calling out the stops. All the names still ring true but the landscape is almost unrecognizable. Thanks for the ride!

OMG. I always miss it when you come down here. Next time you come il take you to a great hoagie spot and you can ride the double-end K Cars to get there.
Even though im a Philly native i lived right off the LIRR mainline in Carle Place. So glad they got that 3rd track in.

Excellent capture! This engineer certainly uses the K3LA horn to it's full potential! I hear these Silverliners come through Ambler all the time, and it's pretty easy to tell who's operating by how they blow the horn.

@@hornshowrailfan2554 Yeah, a lot of the engineers on SEPTA really don't care about doing a perfect crossing sequence. There is one engineer on SEPTA that I've heard that literally blows through playing with the horn. It's hilarious to watch!

Pulling into North Broad, I noticed what appears to be a track, off the mainline to the right, with a piece of M-o-W equipment sitting on it. Behind it I briefly glimpsed what looked to be a brick (former? ) carbarn?

Gwynedd Cut was originally a tunnel. It was daylighted when the RDG electrified. There's another tunnel beyond Lansdale on the Bethlehem Branch not far past Perkasie station, which still stands.
