From a retired M-B Star Technician, 1970. -2017. The manifold and exhaust failure is from lack of support bracket at the down pipe attached to the trans mount. Look up your parts book , and look up a W123 300 D Turbo diesel exhaust support bracket and hangers. Shouldn't fracture in 100 years if supported properly and at many places. Check the parts book. Excitting project 🇩🇪✌️🇺🇲👍 The fles pipe was an excellent idea, but still add a support arm to the trans, wirh C-clamp at the exit of the flex pipe- like the diesel cars.
New exhaust looks and sounds awesome 👍 Takes an engineering mind to look at the old one and figure out how it failed, then make new one that won't. Better than new now.
Always enjoy your videos (particularly as a fellow 421 owner). You have a really good systematic and pragmatic approach to your work - it’s great to see 😊👍
@@KJOff-Road yea i know, but it is what it is. luckly this video was not like that last one, the last oen had like 7 ads and those that are actually annoying hehe, anyways keep those videos comming
Right! That's the word i was looking for! I just couldn't think of it, when i was editing this. so i ended up with just an americanized version of what we call them. Haha. :)
There's a good reason why M-B engineering had rubber bushings on the alternator mounting. You wasted alot if time making those beautiful bushings. Think about vibration, harmonics, alternator internals, fracturing, noise ....
Der OM 615 war nie in Motorengrün lackiert er war schwarz und die Aluteile silber wie alle PKW Motoren bei Daimler-Benz . Im allgemeinen gefiel mir die Original Farbgebung besser .
For fug's sake what is wrong with TH-cam these days!? I have not received ANY notifications, and now when come here to check - there are 7 new videos. I mean, it still is 7 new vids from one of my most favorite car channels, but ye... YT has to do smth with their system.
Yeah, i have seen/heard of a lot of that going around. People not getting notifications. being unsubscribed from channels and such. Their system is really doing some odd tricks.
Nice one, sounds fine.
Well done.
Looks great!

Flex testing. That's thorough!
Nice werk!!! love the zinc coating touch looks good!
This is one of my favourite TH-cam series at the moment.
So jealous, I live in the mountains at 1325 feet above sea level in snow country. She’d be a perfect snow fighter with that ground clearance.
The chassis looks awesome.
Congratulations, excellent job, I thought the engine sounded much better.
It is coming together beautifully!
Nice
Good to hear the mog engine running again.

I've just binge watched this whole series to date. Love it! Thank you!
Dude, that's going to be such a nice truck when you're done, can't wait to see the cab renovation. Thanks from 12° N latitude

Nice video! Chassis turned out great 👍Can't wait so see the work on the cab 😉
Excellent!! So looking forward to see this complete.
Sounds good. I don't think you enough displacement to worry about a nasty loud exhaust noise. Take care & stay safe.
great Mechaniker!
Nice sounding exhaust.
Always craving for more unimog content, thanks !!
Nice Job! it's nice to see you have quality tools like mine (bendy tool thing)🤣
🇦🇺another great video
Great video. Really want to see how you tackle the cab.
I like your videos, and i want to support your work so i turn off the ad block on your videos, its painful but you deserve it 👍
Haha much appreciated.
If it's any comfort, it also pains me, having to put ads on these videos

I hope that front bushing doesn’t walk back out of hole. Lock tight or a spacer to keep it in place? Just a thought

And yeah, the old helmet suddenly died.

😍
"Should we start it?" I'm going to just assume that there weren't a lot of "no"'s for that question...
I couldn't hear any?... Over The Sound Of That Sweet Exhaust!
Can’t fool me. Master mechanic pretending to be be a backyard wrencher. 💪
Haha, well, to be fair, i am doing at lot of this work, in my backyard. :)
In America we call Pin-bolts...Studs....!
nice to see you take the effort to keep 'em running!

Which country...which company vehicle... That name also pls...
We are in Denmark.
The unimog is a Daimler/Mercedes Benz (If that is what you are asking?)

Man, it's almost too clean, I'd be afraid to actually use it once it's done!
