Cologne Zoo: GREAT APES in the Jungle House | zoos.media

In Cologne Zoo and using this example, conservation expert Wolfgang Rades speaks about the husbandry of great apes in modern zoos.
In the jungle house of Cologne Zoo, you can admire three species of great apes: Borneo orangutans, western lowland gorillas, and bonobos. These animals take part in conservation breeding projects and are ambassadors of their species and their habitat. But conservation for these animals doesn't stop within the zoo's borders.
Like every modern zoological garden, the Cologne Zoo is not only active in ex-situ conservation but also in in-situ conservation. Wolfgang Rades, the conservation officer of Loro Parque on Tenerife, gives some examples and also success in the video.
