Tensioning & de-tensioning the truss rod & neck, by removing all the strings at once, is bad practice. The linear tension on the neck is ~200 lbs give or take depending on tuning & string gauge. The torsional force is obviously lower as the strings run near parallel to the neck, however, it's still considerable when repeatedly applied then removed.
Hi Dean I’m currently studying at a music college in Brighton and my dream is to be a guitar tech with a touring band, do you have any tips on how to get into this job?
Hi Frankie! As a starting point I’d look to invest in a decent guitar tech tool kit, a good soldering iron and an old guitar that needs to some love. Maybe ask your friends / family if they have a guitar that you could work on. It’s all about practicing but there’s so many videos out there to help these days, a lot more than when I started. I’d recommend the Dan Erlewine books from Stew Mac, that’s how I got started. Let me know how you get on, it’s all about practice and getting as much experience as you can. If you have any friends in bands, offer to go with them for free and start getting some experience :)
@@deanrowbothamguitars I should be getting some work experience with some of my tutors, one of them is the drummer for The Vapours so that should be a great start aswell

Where can you find the Cat 5 Boxes ?
If you reach out to Kon from Malevolence, he’ll be able to make you some. You can find him on instagram!
