- The Engineer spear has a high amount of output, allowing you to forego kits for a more simplistic but still powerful playstyle in Guild Wars 2 WvW. This is a brief intro to the spear mechanics and a fun holosmith build using the spear as well as a gameplay showcase.

They really knocked the animations out the park with this class
Core engineer I wish they improved as much as elite specs. Things like turrets feel so outdated, i want kit improvements too
14:47 Wow, I saw this fight. I was the other elementalist who was resurrecting the guy. You beat him up for several moments. For several moments you managed to keep the fight very calm from what I saw.
With relic of rivers I feel I can almost entirely rely on holo 4 for damage. Spear not having any defences will never be appealing.
I believe the leap finisher occurs at the end of the dash, only if the enemy is near.

@@bertoandon9681 Holo is fun regardless of the weapon it use, I find shortbow the best one to have fun with.

Yes another celestial build!
I play condi Scrapper with spear and flamethrower based of your old dodge holo condi and it feels great , lots of barrier , stabilty and can spam might from autoattack , when dmg ramps up it just destruction plus i can constantly dodge and cleanse conditions. Playing it in PVE but probably will tasted it in pvp too. Spear is just fun weapon both skill and animations feels really good. Thanks for this holo combination gonna play around it too.

It is full celestial gear with energy and bursting sigils on spear. Firearms 2,2,3 Tools 3,1,1 Scrapper 1,1,3 . Utillity Med Gyro, Blast Gyro, Flamethrower Kit , Elixir U and optional i use Sneak gyro. Relic of Chronomancer to trigger heals from swiftness and superspeed, i use also very cheap balthazaar runes on gear but can swap for something else but i like boosting my burns. Basicly you pump might and bleeds to have stability , vigor and your swiftness, super speed heals you. Main dmg is burn and you can stuck it very quickly. Use your tool belt to cleans condi and keep your vigor to dodge and dodge often. Swap often to flame thrower to keep swiftness and rump up burns. Maybe little overcomplicated but when you play it a little it is build growing on me. Possibilty to dodge handles lots of incoming dmg with sometimes this build can have problems , if you die to often you can run with bulwark gyro insted blast maybe.
How about range classes and hit'n'run play style builds? It seems to me that full melee dmg is a problem
if its too squishy for you, you can take the holo trait that converts condis to boons, or put on the relic of durability, otherwise youd need to go explosives to use nades for a range build but that would make you less tanky as well, other than that just play pistol i guess lol

Hey go check the video he posted yesterday...he did one with open world builds and he did a version of this for OW that was a celestial holo build...I messed around with it yesterday and it was super fun...

With all the dodge synergy, why take a little bit of basically random quicknes/SSs from tools grandmaster instead of extra endurance regen?
its mostly because i have vigor and the dodge food already, and those dont stack additively with eachother, so the trait on top is also not getting full value, it may give 25% instead of 50% or even less. I haven't done the math but it might be one dodge per 10 seconds extra, which is just not as good as the quickness imo
I think I answered my item question. I forgot you can have food in WvW, so you just use food to cap endurance regen instead of the tools trait
any good alternative to the celestial gear? wanna try this, but i'm not a huge fan of celestial in wvw
why not? because you had haters telling you that you're inferior if you use it? The build is a condi build but if you run trailblazers you wont get nearly as much value so thats the best alternative, and if you run carrion or viper its just a free kill
@@Vallun No, I usually don't play cele and dislike the effects it has on roaming and duels (don't want to start a discussion, just my opinion). I know you and many other players like it and that's fine. I blame Anet, not the players who use it.
Ty for the tip though, love your videos. Maybe I give it a shot, always hated the engineer's reliance on tool and grenade kits
@@KaiLaddeGricht i recomend u trying this build with carrion stats and thief runes but swaping alchemy to explosives. There u have a lot of power dmg in multi hits + strong condi dmg :)

Thanks for the video, but at the time of writing this, do not bother with Engi spear. It's 2 (charge) ability is bugged and misses all the time.

Can the spear be used for power builds?
i dont see why you would when you can just run sword shield instead
@@Vallun I know, but a power spear on engie sounds so good, especially for scrapper with the spear 4. So much vulnerability as well as pressure damage to pair with the shredder gyro and the mortar kit

@@Vallun true, but the range you have with the spear is really good and the vulnerability stack is rather awesome to have. so, can the spear be used as power?
