  • Tuning a PIDE process loop using autotune for both Independent & Dependent calculation types in under 12 minutes.
Remember that the autotune feature is done by forcing the PIDE instruction into manual mode then running a autotune while the loop is stable to get the best results.
Studio 5000 task timing is important as well in understanding the way a PIDE loop works with time & error calculation.

What is the different between PID and PIDE function block ?

    • @ShaneWelcher

A few enhanced features for manual controls plus offer small helpful elements like Autotune

Normally most of PID control should be use PID or PIDE block ?

In today's modern use, the PIDE is widely used. PIDE is used in PlantPAX & a lot of grow industry controls.
The standard PID is not used that much, it is used inside of AOIs
The PIDE offers a lot more than the normal PID.
Alarming, better operator controls, better auto controls, cascade ability, etc

I'm also fairly certain that the Auto Tune feature is only available with the PIDE. Just to provide context with the video.

@@schwoates Autotune is available for both PID & PIDE.
PIDE in RSlogix 5000 or Studio 5000 & PID in Rslogix 500 or PID in MircoLogix.
You are correct for RSlogix 5000 & Studio 5000 not having autotune for the standard PID but in the PIDE it is a common feature.
looks like a great idea to make a video about the differences between PID & PIDE instructions.

Does PlantPAx 5.1 has autotune in the PID of the library?

    • @ShaneWelcher
      @ShaneWelcher  ปีที่แล้ว +1

The PIDE was changed in PlantPAX 5.0, there are some controls from the HMI side of things however the PPD is the new instruction for the PID.

@@ShaneWelcher Ok. Does this PPD has autotune?
