Thanks for sharing these with us..In the past, I would have given them a try but our resources are limited right now so I will have to pass...They really do have a great presentation in that set so I hope they can break through and find a large customer base...Another thought I have is revisit these a couple months down the road and see if they gain strength..I usually pack away wax that seems weak at first and find that many appear stronger when they sit for a while.
Thank you so much for the honest review! And I agree with you 100%. When I get small testers like that I throw them in my bathroom. And base their performance on whether or not I will buy full size. And I haven’t been wrong… yet. 😂 If a sample candle can’t perform then no go for me. And I know small businesses cost more to run. But I also see the roller coaster of price differences between them all. So when you have like SOS charging what they do for candles (among others) vs what this company is charging? It makes you pause. I’m not trying to be mean. And I don’t run a business. But I will spend where I want and this doesn’t seem to be it. Thank you again!!! 🎃
very cool review!! it's a shame because some of the names/concepts I really liked. for the price though.... I would need to love love love them. Also burning something that is that expensive is less fun because you're thinking about saving it for as long as you can rather than enjoying it. my imagination was going listening to these though, they had some good concepts
Thanks for reviewing these! Always like trying small shops and much less talked about fare. With their ridiculous price point and the all show, no go aesthetic vs actual candle quality, this is a bummer. There are a couple of these that sounded mildly interesting on fragrance (House By The Cemetery, Witching Hour) but imho, most sounded pretty boring and overdone note-wise. The no throw puts the final nail in the coffin. I can tell you're like me, striving to find the positives, not really enjoying relaying bad news, but this is the tougher part of reviewing and I appreciate that honesty. 👻
Exactly, i always try to give out some positives if i can find any to balance the negatives but sometimes its hard to come up with more than a couple 😂
Thank you for the review. The one candle that actually read as spooky to me was Mary by Trudon. It does have head notes of licorice, but the other notes of the candle consist of incense and cool basement. It’s so bizarre but also amazing at setting a mood. Super pricy though
This is the first time im hearing about that company so thank you for pointing that my way, that candle sounds like it'd be right in my wheelhouse, i might have to give them a shot sometime! 🎃
Hey Jared, for next time, I think you should talk about turn over time when the candles were going through customs. Maybe people would want to know that info like if it took forever to go through there or not. Just a thought.
Sorry, ill make sure to mention it in the future if i notice a long shipping time, these actually made it to me very fast only about a week or so from order to arrival! 🎃
Thank you for such a detailed review! I got a sample of House by the Cemetery last year and loved it too, it’s not one I would have gravitated towards without trying. The only full size candle of theirs I have tried is Samhain Spice and I thought the throw was good, but I will give two caveats to that: they changed their vessel this year so I don’t know how it compares to last year and I have a very small living space that a 3-wick candle, for example, would be far too strong for. I think their sculptural candles are really where it’s at!
@@nothingisreal27 thank you for sharing your experience, I might have to try out a larger one in the future just to be sure, and agreed about their sculpture candles Im really considering picking some up for display! 🎃
I enjoy your reviews! You describe the notes really well and I appreciate knowing about strength and throw. Have you considered reviewing Underworld Connection? It's also an indie candle company that focuses on gothic themes. I've considered purchasing, but like a lot of these comments, I'm a bit hesitant to try indie because I want the strength to be there!
My problem with a lot of mom and pop companies especially small single wicks is that there is no throw and I could spend the same amount for a dependable Kringle’s candle for 100+ hours. South of sanity is an exception when it comes to throw. Big time!! But companies like lunar I won’t buy from Anymore
exactly, i do really like supporting small businesses, but i don't do it too too often simply because i usually find the performance needs some work. SOS is the only company i've found recently that puts performance on the same level of importance as the scents 🎃

100% on the mark, the price kinda sets the expecation to an insane degree, so when it doesnt perform its that much more disappointing
