Try consulting a dictionary on what "genius" means. You can't just use nouns that sound positive because you like something, with no regard for what they mean. He is so incredible. Not your typical crowd worker. Usually you see comedians who do crowd work making stereotypical jokes about people's appearance , and those jokes get recycled all the time. But this style of asking people such outrageous questions and having such amazing comebacks, having no idea what they will say, is so impressive. So much fun to watch him work.

I honestly don't feel bad for the dude. He sounds like he's at least interested in poli sci, interested in Russian Economics. Almost every college degree (unless you're training to become a doctor or whatever) is largely useless in today's information age. So if you're going to college, and not training in a super hard science like Medicine, you might as well just study whatever you like and enjoy the 4 years before you enter the job market and earn just about the same money as the rest of the corporate drones.

Someone with 10 years of experience but no degree will lose to someone with no experience who got straight Cs, but they have a degree.
With some jobs getting 100s of applications, hr is no longer looking for the best candidate. They are looking to eliminate as many as possible to only look at a handful of candidates.
The idea that you can just look up knowledge on the internet doesn't mean anything because the piece of paper is what gets you in the door. Your knowledge won't.

Im a musician so Im only a comedy appreciator not a pro, but I feel the same way about music, technique is great, form is fine but if the music is shit none of that matters. In other words you can be a mediocre musician and a great entertainer, and a fabulous musician and have nothing but shit sets.

Used to be that professors were paid worse than trades, but you weren't laughed at because people knew you made that choice knowingly. Now it's like they think people taking history is failing at the hustle rather than just living and work to their strengths. I've only ever heard trades people going "my cert is as valuable as a degree" but never hear a soul talking shit about certs at uni...

It’s a shame because analyzing society I think is a valuable skill, it’s just not marketable or valued by the market.
People will say, but it has no value if the market doesn’t value, but they value plenty of things that aren’t worth money, and lots of people make money doing things that aren’t valuable- marketing cigarettes
Makes bank, getting people addicted to opiates made bank in the 90s, lying about supplements can make bank, there’s money in generating passive income for the elite that his the government by the balls, protecting the assets they’ve stolen etc.
Meanwhile I know people value their kids education but teachers are paid Jack. They care about animals but being an animal rescue worker doesn’t pay shit, etc.
The system is unhealthy and out of whack and needs correction.
And you can always be like stav- get a “real” degree and be absolutely miserable so you pursue something you’re passionate about that’s I’ll advised and happen to get lucky.
But yeah, getting a poly sci degree, while it WOULD be an ok choice if society was doing better, is not a good choice given the current situation.
As someone who wanted to major in Poli Sci and realized it was stupid, it’s not like he was wrong lol
