    I own vests [4] waist packs, sling packs, & small chest packs [ FP san juan] . Although for some situations still prefer a vest, hate the sling packs for all the reasons you cited, the waist pack is a pain, so I figured I d try this. You are 100% right. Love it but still fiddling with where to put " everything " . .. Wish they had put hypalon or d rings on the shoulders for nippers etc.

    Hi Heimler I just wanted to say thank you for your Ultimate review packet, it helped tremendously on the APWH exam and I ended up getting a 4, I couldn’t have done it without your packet

    Great video guys. I was thinking I might do a review video on the thunderhead bag I own. It’s been great so far. I need to get more confidence talking to the camera though! Glad I found your channel. Tight lines from Calgary Alberta!

    3 years of the fishpond chest pack and still going strong. I use this daily for wade trips and also sling it in my raft when floating. Can’t say enough good about all the fishpond products.

    Crux 1.5 litre with the magnetic tube holder. Works brilliantly.

    I found that a 1.5L lumbar-style hydration bladder fits perfectly in the back portion of this pack- careful with other things not to poke a hole in it, but that's not a problem for me.

    Nice review. Thank you. I've tried the chest packs, but I can't seem to get use to them. I like the waist pack the best, but they are prone to get wet. I am not an over-packer. I like to travel light. I am currently using a Simms freestone tactical hip pack that I can also wear as a shoulder sling. It would be nice to have room for a water and a few snacks though. Thanks again guys.

      I’ve never tried the waist pack but When I do, I hope it’s water proof. I tend to find my self deeper than my waist all the time. Thanks for watching.

    Still using (and liking) this? Came across this just now as I'm considering trying this very pack (using a lumbar for 2-3 seasons now). Haven't fished any chest pack in a very long time but I'm considering!

    You can keep water in the back pocket by using a camelback water pouch. I use this with the drinking tube on a magnetic catch on the front left shoulder. I dont take extra reels etc but there's room for a sandwich. Great chest pack and I like mine. Only difficulty is putting my fishpond net through the retainer at the back when the back pocket is full, but it's possible with practice!

    Love this pack, it’s my go to. If it had a water bottle holder, it would be perfect!

    • @smctrout4423
      @smctrout4423 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carry your water bottle on your waist belt, not your chest pack. Too much weight on the pack.

    • @CarlosGarcia-507
      @CarlosGarcia-507 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@smctrout4423 tried that. Don’t like the weight hanging off my belt. I recently found a 1 liter water bladder that fits into the rear pocket and I modifiers the tube with a magnet to attach onto my right shoulder strap. Works pretty good for a day on the water

    • @smctrout4423
      @smctrout4423 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CarlosGarcia-507 I suggest a better solution - Carry a water filtration bottle. Less weight and you have water until the filter cartridge is exhausted.

    • @GoodBuddyFlyFishing
      @GoodBuddyFlyFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We both love it too. I got mine this past Christmas and am really happy with it. The fact that I had a fishpond nomad net that fits in the back so well was a huge part of why I got it.

  • @KimchiJerry
    @KimchiJerry 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great review 👍 just bought this and mainly for the net holder but I agree chest packs are easier than hip packs or sling bags because you have less movement with chest packs.

    I bought a cheap camel back water bladder and put in the back of my Cross Current, it fits and works great.

      That’s a great idea. Probably smart for those long days on the water.

    Great pack, had mine almost 2 years. Just wish fishpond would make a smaller backpack for it to be changed in and out like umpqua has for their chest packs.

    • @GoodBuddyFlyFishing
      @GoodBuddyFlyFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, that would be nice. I switch from the umpqua and like how the fishpond stays a little tighter to the chest.

    Was just looking at the nomad nets today. Couldn't decide between the hand net or the mid length. I just know I would sit down and snap that handle off 😂

    • @GoodBuddyFlyFishing
      @GoodBuddyFlyFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does get it the way when I sit down. But the mid length helps when your in a boat.

    My only complaint is that there is no connection on the bottom of the pack for the Fishpond aluminum tippet spool holder like there is on the Thunderhead chest pack. Boo.

    The videos wouldn’t be the same without some stumbles and falls. So if those things keep you from seeing your feet, keep wearing’ em.

    • @GoodBuddyFlyFishing

      We usually just take turns holding the camera or put it on a rock. We usually don’t get too long to fish so it isn’t that bad. Thanks for watching.
