My list: 1. Mourinho - Europa League and LC first season. 2nd place on 81 pts and narrow cup final defeat in season 2. Had United backed in the transfer market, I believe that he would have had United challenging for the title in subsequent years, and never out of the top 3. 2. Ole - had an immense record against an all conquering City team. In his final 2 full seasons in the league beat City 3 times (including back to back victories at City) and drew the 4th game at OT, with an overall aggregate of 6-1 in United’s favour! 3. Van Gaal - Football uninspiring, but never allowed United to suffer the humiliating defeats of some of his successors. Won the FA Cup in second season. made some terrible sales (eg Danny Welbeck, Johnny Evans). 4. Ten Hag - S1 won LC, finished 3rd in league and runners up in FA Cup. A good first season. S2 won FA Cup against City in stand-out United performance. But… in the league…. Truly awful. Overall, under him United have also sunk to humiliating defeats. None more so than 7-0 to Liverpool. United’s all time record defeat, from 1878 to date! 5. Carrick. Very impressive 3 games in charge. 6. Rangnick. Took over with club in a mess. On a hiding to nothing. But still finished higher in league than ETH season 2. 7.Giggs - end of season nothing games… 7. David Moyes - squandered the keys to the kingdom. Destroyed in a single season what it had taken SAF 27 years to build. ‘Nuff said.
Jose could mentally handle the job and the pressure, ole was in his familiar setting and had fans behind him. Ten hag has showed promise, but he isn’t going to get things back on track. A hybrid of ole and mourinho would have been perfect.
I think Ole 1st Jose 2nd (before Ronaldo, Sancho and Varane came, Ole finished 3rd and 2nd), but Raznick was hired for 6 months, to go next to advisory role (stupid setting, what player listens to a manager that leaves after 6 months?) Carrick and Giggs shouldn't be judged, they had a handful of games
Too good? don't even talk about it or do you watch football from shorts ? he was exposed so badly when it came to retaining the possession. He only knew how to play reactive football. And when the opponents performed a low block Ole suffered especially against relegation teams
@@osagieefe7946 do you want a manager who wins trophies and is bad at league with no playing style after spending 600m or do you want a manager who is good at league has a play style not to forget that ole was in the europa league final i can't see eth has won onle one europe game in two seasons no play style
Mourinho the best manager in terms of how to win. The most enjoyable time was lockdown OleBall. Think we owe Ole a huge apology as well. Beat City countless times, finished second with AWB and Maguire, Mcfred in midfield and Lingard and Dan James in attack. Ole saw that group of players and picked the best game plan for them.
Rangnick was undermined by the Glazers. To declare from the start that he would only be temporary, the players have to take a lot of responsibility, here. Additionally, considering the money that has been wasted on Ten Hag signings, people should take note of who Ralf stated United should sign. Honesty was his downfall. He should be so much higher, in terms of what he could've brought, had Glazers not been so thin skinned. To put ETH so high, is madness. I can only assume that you've based this on trophies and ignored the fact that he has overseen both the worst finish to a PL season and the two worst starts.
Those of that say ole is the best we had my question i want to ask is, how many trophies did Ole win for united. Ole isn't n wont be the best coach we had
Im not a United fan but how Solskjaer is so high regarded by some supporters? He was 3 years on the job, spend a lot of money in really mediocre players and its the only manager after Fergie not winning any title (caretaker coaches shouldnt count) Man United spent 3 years with that guy while teams like Liverpool and city had the best of the best He is a caretaker type of manager: knows the club, the core values, its good for lockeroom envirement (specially after mourinho's departure) but its a short solution United must choose a proper project manager with full backup and a organize structure: Kloop left Liverpool, this is probably Guardiola's last season on City, Chelsea is a mess of a club. If there's a time to try catch up the top teams is right now Ruben Amorim would be a great choise: as a porto suporter i know how much he as change Sporting's paradigm
@@breshcling said it. 1: He had the most consistently performances. Finished top 4 in every full season. He lost a final, and went deep into many cups. It seemed like a matter of time before a trophy would come. 2: He was great against other top teams. I think his stats against Guardiola is pretty even, he might even be ahead. Sounds nuts today. United did, however, struggle to break down low blocks at times, which was the main problem. Easier to solve than how to contend with the other top teams though. 3: The feel around the place. It felt more like United in many ways. Sure had games where we struggled, but also games we won by 3 or 5. Ten Hag has lost more games by 3 or more than he has won by 2.. insane. I believe point 1 is the main one though. The signing of Ronaldo didn’t work out, and Sancho came in the same window and underperformed. This became his downfall, despite a good start to that season. After Ronaldo’s debut, united were top of the league. Ole got a lot out of a squad that wasn’t all that great, under a sporting structure that was shite! The managers that have followed shows you how well Ole did. The players Ole wanted, especially young players, the club failed to bring in. People said he had no tactical skills, but that’s just lazy analysis. The guy knows what he’s doing. Wouldn’t have gotten the results he did if not. Ten Hag was presented as a tactical mastermind, and look what that looks like. I actually rate the time under Ole higher than any of the others. If De Gea had been able to save penalties back then, he’d have a trophy as well. Mourinho is the Ole one that comes close, and only because of trophies. The feel around the place was awful, however. You want to be proud of more than results only, even though they are important.
@@spoornachandra8744 this is a fact. There were challenges, but sure smaller than now. Everyone says people who liked Ole or want him back forget quickly. I don’t think that’s the case. It wasn’t the finished and perfect product, but the process was way better than this one now. They struggled breaking down low blocks. They brought Sancho in for this, which everyone agreed was smart until it didn’t work out. He’d been doing it in Germany. The Ronaldo signing changed the whole feel around the club. Turned out to be a huge mistake, but most of us were excited at the time.
"What he achieved is downright heroic", as a Manchester United fan this sounds amateurish when you describe Jose. His spell was the worst with constant moaning, falling out with players, arguing about respect, heritage & a lot of other stupidity. Except those 2 trophies there's nothing he did for the club, even that season we finished 7th.
