Great video. Outstanding skill. with simple devices a great mechanical advantage, with no complicated hardware devices. Very good Fellas.

This is a great training video. You guys do an awesome job explaining the RRH and I really like that you put it into a practical scenario where it is very likely to be used. I just have a couple of questions. Is it pertinent that the anchor carabiner ( where the munter hitch is) should be the largest carabiner that you have so the munter has clearance to flip if necessary? It may also be helpful to show the braked position of a munter hitch as some may have never worked with that hitch. One last thing, would it be best to clip the running end of the rope to the anchor, so in the instance of a main line failure the RRH could not come completely undone and drop the load? Thank you for taking the time to demonstrate a very useful system with clear and accurate instruction. Great job guys!

Great pace, clear instructions, good demonstration. But I was taught that after the Munter hitch should be a mule hitch - a kind of slip knot, usually tied off by tying the bight with an overhand. You've taken the bight and tied a two half-hitch knot. A half-hitch is not an overhand, they are two different knots, and a half-hitch is not a reliable safety knot. You probably won't have a problem with what you've tied as long as the loads are not large enough to make the two half-hitches with a bight fail.

Larry Borshard that last part is incorrect by common theory... the easy way to know is that when the safety is tied, the loop should finish parallel to the radium. Shown here it ends up perpendicular. That’s a key identifying feature of the finish knot. That said, bravo for taking the time to make the video for folks to see. It’s shark infested water and a lot of people that’ll never tie nor use this stuff are at the ready to bust balls and talk shit.

It should be noted that the RRH was developed by Rigging for Rescue's Kirk Mauthner and Arnor Larson

For reference. three wrap prusik breaks at about 17Kn. Tandem would be near 34kN, thats 7,650lbs. Single pruisk will almost always be the weakest point in your system so always double up.

Hey guys, I am sure that the first tie after forming the munter has to be a slippery overhand and then backed up by a overhand on a bite. Not sure where the slippery half hitch came into the picture??

Should you attach the standing part to the carabiner using a figure eight on a bight with the munter to ensure we do not run out the rope and it stops if all rope is used

Hi sir can i ask RLR is on which line? Main or belay line?

Consider also tying a VT Prusik (using the same double eye material you have) instead of a traditional triple wrap. VTs will hold the load securely, but can easily be released without being unloaded, therefore eliminating the need for the Radium altogether. th-cam.com/video/Z-xjqI1WOY8/w-d-xo.html
