The way he causally talks on the descents almost sounds like a voice over, but also some of those climbs (assuming with gopro effect) look to be pretty damn steep and he's just casually pedaling up the climbs while talking no problems. Just crazy.
That has to be the cleanest looking trail I have ever seen. It literally looks like its gets vacuumed regularly. Excellent job with the video. would be great to see a review from you of the new following v3 on the same trail. curious to see the trade between climbing and descents at both ends of the range.
i think this is the most accurate color representation ive seen so far. Received my frameset the other say and was taken back a bit by how "pink" it looks in indoor lighting. Has grown on me and it totally changes to a pretty stunning fluorescent red in direct sunlight. But really tough to capture on camera.
if the measure of a bike in your reviews was the number of guttural sounds and whoops and hollers it produces then it looks like the Wreckoning is topping the list so far!
Did you end up buying the bike? I'm on the fence with this bike and the new Enduro. The Enduro seems a little too long but I'm a little weary of the 430 chain stays on this bike. Curious if it feels sketchy or if it's still able to plow like the Enduro? Cheers
@@scottb5268 I haven't bought one yet, you can't really find one for sale anyway. I have a Megatower and I really like it, I've just had it for a year and I'm getting that new bike itch.
This video is why I am getting my 2023 xo1 in a week. Thank you so much. I have to say, out of all the videos, it looks like you had the most fun on this bike. Would like to see the new wrechoning on the same trail.
I've got the 2017 wreckoning and following, and must say that the Delta system is something apart. Love the way this can pedal so well and be so supple at descends.
Trevor OFarrell I don’t know where you are but even trails in the Redwoods are loose. Their is probably loam north of Humbolt, but anywhere South of that, there hasn’t been any rain for months. Doesn’t look like you shred that hard bud....
Solid man! Your reviews are the best out there . Was waiting for that one, I have been riding a Calling for the last 3 years and I absolutely love it. The new Wreckoning could be the only bike that makes me want to change it.
im having a hard time paying attention to what you're saying while watching you ride, how much more for you, riding like that while doing a review. much respect. \m/
Excellent review 👏, I've just spent the weekend riding one back to back with my 2 year old Wreckoning LB. All your points are spot on, you have verbalised a lot of my thoughts that I hadn't 🤣 in my review!
Your reviews are the best out there. A rider who is really able to tell the differences between different bikes and who is eloquent enough to bring it to the point wirhout always saying the same phrases. Thumbs up! You helped me a lot finding my new bike!
I was in the same boat! The Sentinel was back ordered for a long time and I got my hands on the Hightower C S build... It's awesome! Now that I know I can push the travel to 160mm, 150mm (front, rear) I have no reason for the Sentinel. Still wish I could have test road it! Good luck on your search, it's a tough decision!
Struggling with that comparison as well, with no way to demo either. They just canceled the remaining Outerbike events for this year, so it's become even more difficult to make a decision. Good luck to you!
I have the 2019 Sentinel (160mm Fr/140mm Rr). I love the bike but my two biggest complaints are not enough rear travel (bottom out on bigger hits a lot) and it corners well-- but only when I muscle the living crap out of it. I don't know how the new 2020 Sentinel with slightly more travel would fair v. this Wreckoning, but it seems like the Evil here would be the perfect solution to my two gripes. That being said, I always have fun riding my current Sentinel and would give it a 8.75/10. But if I could get to 9.5/10...
Sick riding and great reviews! After watching a half dozen or so with you on several big trail/enduro bikes your reaction to the Evil puts it at the top of my want to demo list
Would love to hear your thoughts on the Forbidden Druid! Enjoying the content - this is what more reviews should be like - but absolutely loving the riding!
@@freehubmag Is this a bike that can serve as an all-rounder? You mentioned it feeling like a smaller bike as far as cornering and pop, but with big bike descent capability. Sounds perfect! The big question is, though, how would this bike fare in the hands of a more novice rider. Do the short chainstays require a more active, experienced rider, or are us newbies and average Joe's gonna be fine with the new Wreckoning? Hope to hear back from you!
I don’t have the V3 but have the LB (previous gen) which has very similar geometry and same short chainstay. It’s a nimble bike for a 29er and definitely doesn’t feel like you’re riding a big bike. But don’t confuse its nimbleness with a lack of stability because it’s also very stable and confidence inspiring! I have a lot of bikes from dirt jumper to full DH, and I hands down take my Wreckoning everywhere. I like how mine pedals and the new V3 should pedal even better with the steeper seat tube angle! BUY ONE, you won’t regret it!
I don't really like the short chainstays (1.90m tall) because it puts my weight so far over the back that I have to push my chest nearly OVER the bars in order to overstear in flat corners. I wish more bike companies would lengthen their chainstays proportionate to the frame size.
Another great review! Thanks as always for sharing. Also amazing video footage, any chance you can share your GoPro settings? I've been struggling to set mine up and your footage is always top notch!
So fun to watch! Thank you for the excellent video and informative review! Can you please review the Ibis Ripmo to round out the most popular LT 29ers in Bellingham?
Have you maybe rideen the firebird 29 too? I‘d like to hear a comperison between those bikes 🤔 they both got the dw Link, short chainstanes, boost+....
Ive been torn between this bike and the offering for a minute now, but this review has me seriously leaning towards the wrecker! Nice riding and awesome review!
They should pay you commission for every bike they sell after watching this video. I'm looking to replace my Intense Carbine with something that can corner better without flexing the frame. I don't like the vpp suspension when pedaling through tech because of the chain growth. Is the delta suspension better at handling that?
Your reviews are the best. Just clean, fast af riding . And I know how the bike ranks by how many laughs there are 🤣 How does this compare to the enduro on similar trails?
@@radagascar1 Enduro's got a much higher average leverage ratio, so won't be as suitable for heavier riders (above maybe 230 lbs). And even those around 215-230 end up with a much higher spring rate/psi, which isn't ideal. Just some observations I've made when comparing the new Wreckoning to the Enduro.
