Hi, I'm a FNP working for am insurance company in the nursing home. I see 3 to 4 patients in 8 hours shift and I love it. I used to work in a setting where I have to see 25 to 35 patients in 8 hours, I will never go back to that. I am finally having work and life balance. Don't be discouraged, keep on looking. It took me 5 jobs as a NP to finally find one that I like 👍

Hello Ms. Laurie. I am supporting you in this new journey. Give yourself the time and latitude to get adjusted. I agree with your friend, if you don't like it leave. Yes girl UC can get crazy busy. Patients come there for everything. When I worked in UC 4 years ago as a new NP During flu season I saw 66 patients by myself. That was the day I gave 2 week notice. It was a great learning experience. Just to hectic.

@@fromcnatonp I enjoyed learning in urgent care because I used to be an ED nurse over five years. One major problem for me was at the end of my shift we will see patients up until close instead of slowing patient volume maybe an hour or so prior to closing. It would be 9:30 and I would still have 3-5 pat to see. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

    Hey there sunshine,
So glad to see how your first few days went, I learned every Urgent Care is different especially how it’s run and yes after performing my clinical’s in a Urgent Care setting I would agree that many patients come in for minuscule issues. I’m so very proud of you continue to learn and grow. Blessings 🥰

Wow. That is a ton load of patients. Look at it as an opportunity to be stretched outside that zone of confort. Learn all you can. Put the experience on your resume and move on if you have to. But I feel like you will get your rhythm soon. Have a great week ahead

I hope it’s going better for you at the urgent care. I have been an NP for 6 years, and I have bounced between dermatology and urgent care, and the patients can be a whole lot 😂. I enjoy the flexibility. But yeah, it can be a lot. I went into urgent care setting after working family practice for a year. Worked there for 2 years, went to dermatology for 2 years, then back to urgent care. I will tell you this, once you work urgent care, I think you can work anywhere. Good luck!!

Miss Laurie, I’m a new FNP (graduated in December) and I went into HIV prevention/HIV care and STI prevention and treatment. I have to say it is an extremely fulfilling specialty.
