As a rough break down, here's how it goes
You will make about 25 Lakhs [maybe even less depending on your company ] by the time you are eligible to appear for your Chief Mates exam ,But spend about 30-40 Lakhs[Depending on how much of a spender you are] to get qualified as a Chief Mate. The time you actually recover all your money is probably when you start sailing for Chief Mates....Exams are the following as per current requirements for becoming a Master..
1. HNC - BP Marine [India] 8-10 Months or so...
2. HND - STC / COGC [UK] 8-11 Months or so...
3. Sailing - 12 Months/15 Months [At Sea]
4. Deck OOW - [2nd Officers] - 6 Months - Everything Cleared in 1st Attempt [UK - CoGC or STC depending on where you went during your HND] You cannot change your college at this time so decide well which college you do want to go.
5. Sailing - 12 Months [At Sea]
6. Chief Mates 6 Months - Everything cleared in 1st Attempt [ UK - COGC or STC] You may choose where you want to go.
7. Sailing - 24 Months/12 Months [24 is the requirement but reduced to 12 if you have sailed 12 months as a Chief Mate]
8. Masters - 1 Month [Optional - if you prepare in India and go you can just go for 1 day and give your orals and come back......normally people don't do this.] ----[UK - COGC or STC]
Do add up downtime for Documentation [STCW has atleast 30 Courses you will need in this Journey to becoming a Master Mariner] ...Family Time ....Vacations.....Emergencies.....Etc
A respectable pace is HND --------------> Master = 10-12 Years
Salaries Approx - Salaries may vary depending on how good your company is and the type of ships that you sail on but this is the broad spectrum.
1. Cadet - 200-500 $
2. Jr Officers - 1200 - 2200 $
3. 3rd Officer - 3000-3500 $
4. 2nd Officer - 3800-5000 $
5. Chief Officer - 6000- 10500$
6. Master - 8000-17000$
And, Don''t just multiply your Salary X $ rate and say 'Fuck , I will earn a shitload'......you spend money also when you earn....Think about Family-Friends-Inflation-Etc.
Good luck chaps....I don't want to discourage anyone from joining this field .....but at the same time do not recommend it to anyone as well.

B.P marine academy 1 year ka 3 lakhs lega, 5 lakhs u.k college legi TOTAL 8 LAKHS APPROX
or fir 9 lakh visa approve karne ke liye chahiye bank account mai.

Itna karne ke baad bhi HND complete karke koi job nai deta. C/V pe HND dekh ke interest he nahi lete

I use to work from 5 in the morning to 12 then lunch brake for 1 hour then work till 6 evening

course is difficult apart from course you have to live in hostel and eat mess food which is not so great as compared to our home food. You have to clean the hostel and toilets of your room. Everybody cannot live this lifestyle that's why people left.

look HND NS is on off shore work where you have to be on ship and BSC maritime operation courses is on shore work like you will have to stay here on land. both are different. You want to become sailor?
