I used smooth black river rocks and set it next to the milkweed. Does it need shade? I’m in Houston, aka ‘surface of the sun’ 🤷🏻‍♀️

Definitely would recommend to put it in the shade or you need to refill it every 2 min 😁

I made one earlier today using sea glass, glass stones, sea shells and coral, really pretty with the sunlight bouncing off the glass
I just saw a video suggesting sand mixed with a bit of manure and a small plate with assorted fruit, although I think the fruit will attract ants.....maybe I’ll try it and report back😊

Yes I think fruit will attract ants and other animals you don't want in the garden like rats 😉 and yes please let me know how it went 👌👍

Your sea glass idea sound lovely, I'm going to have to try that! You can make a butterfly puddling station with the items you mentioned. It'll give them a necessary part of their diet that they don't get from flowers. If you make it correctly there isn't that much manure involved. Mine is set far away from the house & I haven't noticed anything unwanted being attracted by it.
