    Dr. Neil, thank you. You are truly a gifted educator--well done. Now, I need to find more questions to practice this concept to cement this topic.

      It’s the feedback and knowing it helps others who will benefit… money can’t replace that. In the end, it’s how we made people feel that matters.

    Another amazing video! 📚👍Making the concepts crystal clear ( Behavior up -reinforcement; Behavior down -punishment. + /add/positive ; -/remove/negative..). It’s really helpful!🎈

    A question about the last question.
    If you look at the goal being that Sam does his math homework it should be reinforcement of increasing his behavior of doing homework right? And it can be seen from the side of decreasing his behavior of not doing homework. How isnt that the same thing? How did you conclude that avoiding homework was the behaviour we were trying to decrease, where increasing homework was also the behavior we tried to enforce?

    • @swan6959
      @swan6959 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you read question carefully, you would see that now child is doing fine because he is not doing his homework in school, previously he was doing his home work in school that was a bad thing and now that bad thing is decreased by making child wash dishes. So, a negative thing is decreased by adding something hence positive punishment. I LOVE YOU RANDY NEIL.

      The behavior that was reduced is "Sam is not doing his homework", this behavior was decreased (and now he is doing his homework) because smth was given to him (a chore).
      Hope this helps

    I confused about one thing , reinforcement or punishment is chosen based on the initial behavior ,right!

    • @RandyNeilMD
      @RandyNeilMD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My advice is try not to be logical with these questions... that's what frustrated. Even trying to say that positive "must be good"...will lead to trouble with answering correctly. reinforcement and punishment should be chosen if behavior in question GOES UP (INCREASES) or GOES DOWN (DECREASES)... Just be careful when saying initial behavior... It's the behavior in question. I hope this helps
