This is the only beat I've ever willingly danced to and the only one I ever will - or would, now that the knees are starting to fail me. I've been a 13 year old again for a whole 7 minutes. Ta very much for that.
They should have played their best tunes and not messed around that much. People honestly thought they were a comedy act like the Monkeys instead of a real top musical act. And they were one of the best bands ever, their music was complicated in some songs and they had 17 top 20 hits but they weren't taken to seriously in America because of their antics. They should have played Night Boat to Cairo and My Girl even though I love One Step, but I thought it was their big chance to break there. Madness toured quite a lot over in the USA over the years but I guess there wasn't a lot of money put into marketing them over there as maybe the record company thought that their personality would have brought them a much higher fan base. Madness were actually one of the best live bands around, and they were all very good musicians by the 2nd album. As far as I'm concerned, they wrote the most melodic tunes since the Beatles came around and they had the most top ten hits but only had one no. 1 which tells me that their management was basically shit.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! This was lost media!!!

Britain was musically and fashionably so far ahead of North America back then.
