- This is SOTB's third death metal cover in bluegrass/folk style. This time, they made an awesome version of Amon Amarth's "Twilight Of The Thundergod".

I wonder if the people talking shit about this cover realize that Amon Amarth fucking loves it and often plays it after they go off-stage...
Most "hardcore brutal tr00 fan" metalheads that I know have never even seen their favorite bands in concert.
Shit BANGS and I'm glad AA plays it often. That Spanish part is *chef's kiss*.

This is my favorite cover of this song because they took it and applied a completely different style so well that it may as well be an original song as opposed to someone like Sabaton who basically just did the exact song with clean vocals. Also the spanish groove section is incredible, who knew that singing about Norse gods in spanish would sound so awesome?
I roll back round to this sound every couple of years. It's so good.
I can't help but imagining a Longhouse in Valhalla, full of Vikings singing this in chorus, drinking beer with this band playing!

I can imagine Thor, swinging a classical guitar instead of his hammer, headbanging to this version of the song. The Spanish part feels as if Ragnarok is happening in a Mexican desert. :D
IMO, tied with a Bluegrass cover of "The Trooper" as the best cover ever. :D

This version is kinda cool of what it originally was, I mean, Sabaton just added clean vocals, but this is something completely original and the instrumentals sounds... Very finnish, kinda reminds me of Ensiferum a bit? Nice cover though!

What I love about this specifically is how well it works translated to bluegrass or folkish style. It almost promotes and shows everyone just how much influence folk music has on some metal.

Okay translating the bridge to Spanish and playing flamenco over it is absolutely GENIOUS. That has to be one of the most inventive and well done twists in a cover I have ever seen, its a shame there isn't much more of this band to listen to that what's on your channel because they deserve every bit of praise and recognition we can throw at them.
The ones who hate this are those 12 year old wannabe metalheads who are like, "This is not brootal enough!"

From a musicians point of view, you can hear the years of practice from all of them and they all have amazing talent.

It took me about 22 years of living in Appalachia and hating bluegrass (despite being surrounded by it) before I realized that it actually has a lot in common with metal. They share an emphasis on super technical playing, as well as using many of the same scales, and both have roots in European folk music. They go together better than most people thing.

I kind of like it. The thing is, if a bunch of Viking bards sang this it would probably sound more like this than like Norwegian death metal or whatever the original was sung in.

The part in the middle is Spanish. It's just a translation of the English lyrics at the same part in the original, when he says "Mighty thor grasps the serpent firmly by the tongue" etc.

I can assure you they're not making fun of Amon Amarth, it's making original music and at the same time paying respect to their favourite bands and musicians. Dan and Peter (main members of this project) are huge metalheads like anyone else that enjoy ATG, DT and Amon Amarth, which are their favourite bands by the way.
