On my last 7 trips I ran 4,167 pay miles, loaded and empty. I grossed 7,119.76 Not counting detention on a trip, mileage pay only. My paymile average on the end dump side, gross is 1.708 or 1.71 per mile after everything, loaded and empty practical pay miles. Something to add, buy only the fuel you need for that trip while keeping your fuel mileage as high as possible and keep your out of route as low as possible. I run my operation by hub miles, not practical miles. All miles cost you, even if all miles don't pay. My out of route is between 0 and 4%. I'm doing really well.
@@FreightHauler87 My last 6 settlements average per mile loaded and empty is 1.797, which includes all demurrage etc. My average miles practical are 1933 per week, which isn't great, but it's the Holidays. My average settlement is 2,509.56 after everything but my truck payment a week. These numbers dont count the end of the year bonus, which would be around .036 cpm on all miles based on these weeks, if it did it be around 1.833 cpm average loaded and empty all practical miles. Just remember this is a 6 settlement average, some weeks were better than others, but hopefully after the Holidays things will pick up allot more.
@@FreightHauler87 I'm a new OP here and have only been here 2 months, remember November and December is Holiday months and can be slower to a degree. But I've done fairly well at an average of 2500.00 a week average. Unlike the example that was given in the podcast, he was atleast a 5 year OP and there were a few variables in the numbers. But I see the potential being fairly achievable. 2200 to 2300 miles with the right percentage of MT and LD miles I believe makes it achievable. The trip I'm on now my loaded and empty miles, actual miles, is paying 1.793 per mile, it's a 525 mile trip. Once you get adjusted to what the business is here at Oakley as far as what we haul and what that job consists of, it really then falls into place if you have a good business plan with your truck. But yes it's achievable and I'm hoping for even more than that. I believe it'll be up to the OP as to how bad and hard they want to go to get it. And you will not have to be here 5 years, or have s recruitment bonus etc. to get it. That's nice as well to though.
Great job ! I visited your office about 11 years ago but decided not to lease on. BIG MISTAKE. Now I am too dang old but I tell guys to check you out if they are looking for a new company.
@@OakleyTruckingInc WOW, that's unheard of 😳. I'm so used to get'n robbed that I'm shell shocked...lol. You guys have the best program going in dry bulk transportation! I'm just trying to sell my 1996 W900L to help with my down payment on a Glider I've got my eye on. Hope to get signed on with you guys👍🏿
Hey KC, Your plate cost should be around $30.00 weekly deduction from settlement, this can be done as you choose. This it what we offer to run our plates or you can may choose to run your own plates.
It could have been because that person's settlement we pulled runs their own plates or is grandfathered into our plate program. Running our base plates will cost you $30/week as long as you're leased on with us so $1,560 per year
Good job. I especially like that end of year summary sheet. Shows it all right there. So you guys pay cat scale charges? Do you have suspension air gauges on your trailers?
Yes, every time you load something on a Monday it starts your new pay period. You can unload something on Monday morning and still get it on the same pay period.
It would be nice to see an updated version of this episode in 25

You guys actually pay the interest from the escrow to the driver if & when he leaves?
The interest is actually paid to the driver each month on his settlement.

I didn't see any deductions for plates on the settlement summary
are the plates paid for all at once or is it split into multiple payments?
