I think the problem was all the clothes, cars, house items etc. But I've seen people blow their money in much worse ways than this. It didn't turn out extremely bad for him, at the end of it all. This guy still has a solid home, despite all of the spending on friends which is wiser than he thinks. Either way a million Rands is change these days if you think about the cost of living. Flip only if he managed to stay away from those vultures he calls friends he would have been able to squeeze at least R250k into his bank account to think about on the day he eventually got sober.
