    Everytime I see your van I turn green with envy.
    Especially after all the hard work you put into it.
    It really is a fine vehicle.

    " Playing make believe ". why ? " Because its fun ". In those two phrases you summed it up for me. Many times ive wondered why I am so drawn to doing exactly what your doing. I've also been asked several times "whats my deal ?" And "why am I so into ( for lack of a better way to describe it ) vaning ? Ive never been able to come up with a good answer for myself or others. Thanks to you I now have what has to be the best answer there is. " Im playing make believe and Im doing it because its fun !!!! ". " but most of all, Im doing it because its fun !!! Thank you very much !!! You did a great job with this video. Thanks so much. You described everything very well and at a good pace. Not to fast. Not to slow. Also, your camera skills were great. Nice and steady. Not swinging around and bouncing. Along with leaving the camera on the object you were talking about long enuff to have a good look at what you were talking about.

    Great video Steve. Very nice van also. You have put a lot of time and work into it and it shows. You're videos are always interesting no mater what the content is. That is pretty good gas mileage though however I have that beat by a mile..My last trip of over 2500 miles I only used 2.5 gallons of fuel. But it is a 52 ft sailboat ...........LOL Thanks for the inside look at you're awesome Xplorer....Have a nice day buddy! C YA

    Some good points Steve,when I purchased my 2005 Pleasure Way,was tough deciding small c,or type b,one thing that I found was that a decent used,well priced class b sold fast,so if you wanted to buy,better hurry or it was gone.

    Great video Steve. I am envious of your gas mileage. With our class a we get 6.5 to 7. When towing our CRV it drops to 6 - 6.5. Our first Winnebago View brand new we got 19 mpg. Miss the mpg, but enjoy the room in our class a.

    Your van is so clean neat and orderly. I just love it. A couple of observations from my point of view. I would take the bike off the rear. To my eye it screams steal me. I would replace it with a Brompton folding bikE which you could store in that big rear compartment. Also if you put those plastic air deflectors on the driver and passenger side windows, you can roll those windows open a crack with safety, I am told. That would seem to increase air circulation. Lastly, JustInCredible has a great discussion about Xplorer vs. larger RV and why he went to his current vehicle. Best of luck to you, and thank you again for all of your efforts.

    • @XplorerSteveDIY

    I just want to let you know, doing internet "research" I thought the xplorer 230 xlw is in my opinion probably one of the best class B's out there. Of course your video's helped quite a bit as I now also own a 97 xplorer xlw! Driving at 60 mph I obtained an average of 15.67 mpg driving it home from TX to TN! I have some work to do as it is cosmetically challenged but mechanically sound!

    Steve, beautiful van. I wish I could have found an Xplorer but after looking over a year ended up getting a '99 Pleasure Way. Have you thought of repainting the front of the air conditioner as well as the plastic porch light to match the white of everything else. The faded yellowish plastic kind of jumps out and doesn't match the rest of the beautiful van. I have the same faded plastic parts on my rig.

    I'm in love with your Van. exactly what I want. I personally think I'd not use the black tank and just use plastic bags in toilet and dump in public trash like dirty diapers. urine in a gallon jug and empty in public toilets in rest areas or roadside parks.

    I have a 99 pleasure way wide body, same colors as yours, same cabinets pulls I installed. Did you remove the decals? If so, how did you do it? Did you have to paint the van after you removed them? My van looks awesome inside. Not so worried about the outside look as I don't want to attract attention to it, but I would like to remove the decals, like yours.

    I really like your rig, a lot. I love that it's all white (so beauty IS in the eye of the beholder); black or dark grey would be cooler, but much more conspicuous. I like that you can stealth park most of all. What rig would you buy to replace this, of the same length? I'm still in the exploration phase...thank you for your very informative vids.

    • @XplorerSteveDIY
      @XplorerSteveDIY  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like the Pleasure Way Plateau. It is not as stealth as it is a B+ but it is under 21ft as well so parking anywhere is possible. If I had an extra 100k laying around and really wanted another RV, that would be it. I am happy with what I have however. I am a part-timer and alone so it works.

    Your class B RV has two big advantages over mine. First, your generator is in a cabinet, easy access and repair/replacement. Mine is under the van and almost impossible for me to do anything to it. A simple oil change is a pain. I still have not been able to change the spark plug because the way they put the generator into the case.
    Second your AC being a basic standard type. Again, easy to repair, you probably will just go and buy a new one at Target, cheap and easy. Mine is on the roof and is nothing but trouble, hard to repair/maintain and expensive. It is in an indentation and if it rains and you are parked on a slope, it can fill-up with water, push on the gasket and flood the interior. Why they make it more complicated than needed is beyond me.

    • @XplorerSteveDIY
      @XplorerSteveDIY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hear you. Time for some customizations. Those can be fun. The designer of the Xplorer started out as a boat builder and so was well versed in convenience and access.

    • @laronis
      @laronis 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@XplorerSteveDIY I don’t have a tenth of your ability or the tools, but I have made a lot of changes. But of course the first thing to do without saying was to remove all those ugly stickers/decals/strips, 100% better. I then changed the bed and bed frame size to open it up so I did not have to skootch out of bed (sort of like you did). I built a LiFePO4 battery bank with a 2000 watt pure sine wave inverter, DC to DC charger, added 12v power connections, new simple solar system, made the RV stealthier, got rid of the silly large shower curtain to add about 15% more room in my bath, changed the refrigerator system for better energy use.
      But I do not know how to convert my AC to something like yours, nor do I have the ability to put my generator anywhere but where it is. But I did buy a portable generator and now I can just bypass my built-in one if needed, but I mostly use the battery bank that I built, I almost never need the generator anymore.

    Why is it some "viewers" insist on giving being "stealth" any thought at all? Dude, please don't be offended but your van is OBVIOUSLY a campervan and NOT some nondescript van. Stealth schmelth, your explaining it doesn't look like a campervan is wishful thinking. It is what it is and it's a campervan! It looks like a campervan from the drivers side, just like it's obvious from the passenger side. At least you don't have a bicycle and generator stored on the back and are claiming it is stealthy, like other channels try to claim. If anyone parks where there are signs and your violating them expect to be asked to move. Nobody parking in a vehicle they are sleeping in is getting arrested for doing just that, your told to move, end of story. Park where there are "no parking signs or ordinances" being in forced and you will be told to move. It is never a big deal if you read AND obey the signs and ordinances. I follow a channel that has had no problem in a class C pulling a VW on a car dolly. Sometimes spending a week in the same place in the city. People who get hasseled are doing it very wrong. Let's face it, for some reasons some people can't figure it out and bring problems into their lives. It only means THEY are doing it WRONG and not that they need to be more stealthy. Steve, you haven't been bothered not because your van doesn't look like a campervan, it's because you not parking where it's an issue. I do enjoy your videos. Cheers.

      I bring cash and park where stealth isn't a concern most days. Safer and less hassles. I think Canadian wilderness camping is real stealth: nobody knows where you are and nobody gives a damn either...

      Linescrew1 I agree, 100%. I watched another channel who fled the Bay area in a few days because they couldn't find hassel free parking and was so bummed. The whole time that channel bitched about how hard parking was. Then I watched how some one stayed in the San Francisco area for a whole month, living in a class C, towing a VW with no hassles or bitching at all. Not everyone can figure it out with the same sucess or enough to avoid getting hasseled apparently.

      No sailigsolar it is stealth. The cloaking device makes it virtually invisible. Look out your front window. I am parked there now....see?

      I plan on looking at a couple of parks and BLM land on my way back. Should be fun.

      Stealth is a behavior as well as the look, for sure.
