I got the recipe for Texas Sheet Cake about 40 years ago and the first few weeks of having the recipe we probably made it 10-15 times. Everyone loves it. My recipe doesn’t have cinnamon in it, but I might give it a try when I bake it for Memorial weekend, but I also had thought about covering the cake with raspberry preserves that I’ll warm up before putting them on the cake, then add the frosting. I used Hershey’s chocolate for years, but now I use Nestle’s cocoa, I just like it better. Seriously, who would bake just a half of a Tx Sheet cake?😂😂😂😂😂😂 I could finish that off the first day!😂😂😂😂😂

In Canada it's Fry's Cocoa. It's in same round bright yellow orange container for several decades. They haven't changed the colour or label which I love! Very nostalgic😊

I have to try this, that is completely different than the Texas Sheet Cake and Coke Cake I grew up with. They both had a boiled icing on top, the Sheet Cake with a slightly hard setting icing with Pecans in it and the Coke Cake with marshmallows baked into the top of the cake that melted further when the hot icing was poured on, making a sticky icing. I am from Texas, what can I say, we do things different down here. LOL But that looks delicious and I am going to try it! Thanks for sharing.
I’m from Texas too, my family loves the Texas Sheet cake, I cracked up when Tammy said one could bake just half the recipe, I could eat that the first day, if not the first hour. Also my daughter in law has a recipe for a chocolate cake that by far is the best chocolate cake I’ve ever had, she got the recipe from a co worker and she had to swear not to share the recipe, that must have been 20 ish years ago, and my daughter and I just call it “The Cake” I actually asked her for the recipe a few months ago and I got it but had to promise……and in truth, I’m almost 79, and I think I’m going to do things….but now it seems like everything that should only take an hour or so, takes 2 days! So I may never make “The Cake”………and I’m perfectly happy with the sheet cake, it brings back precious memories of my dear cousin Jody that shared her recipe with me.

I live in Oregon so I’ve never seen White Lily. My mother used Baker’s Cocoa, it has stronger chocolate flavor (to me) then Hershey’s but Hershey’s Dark Cocoa to me has a great flavor.

My mom always made a chocolate mayonnaise cake. My sister-in-law and I asked her for the recipe and it never turned out like hers (or as dark, like a dark chocolate). We both agree she was "withholding". She denied it up and down and showed us the recipe she shared with us was the same as her's. And? haha. She was very competitive with us. Thank you for sharing your family recipes with us, Tammy. Your recipes may not be what our mama made. But they are as good or better (and gives us an opportunity to show up with "our own" and not be compared with). God Bless
That frosting is pretty darn tasty, I watched this earlier but got curious about the frosting so made a half batch, delicious. I have about 10 chocolate cake recipes but will give this a try, you can never have to many chocolate cake recipes. Is the White Lily self rising like a cake flour or all purpose, they do not have self rising here, you said to sub. cake flour with baking powder and salt, but there is a big difference between cake and all purpose, I might just have to get me White Lily, just to try it.

I made the cake just now, but can’t believe I ran out of powdered sugar. Had only 3 cups. Have to run to store in order to finish frosting. I could smell just the slightest aroma of cinnamon while it was baking and it took about an 55 minutes. Looks just like yours with that rectangle shape in the middle. Funny.
White Lily flour is actually a great flour to use for a cake. White lily flour has the lowest protein content amongst main brands of flour which makes it softer and more ideal for cakes. Versus using a King Arthur flour for things like bagels or croissants where you want to build up the gluten structure. Don't be afraid to explore other brands if you explore outside of making cakes.

Tammy just a little trivia here and you probably already know but the guy that invented Coke is from Rome Georgia and it had the original coke leaves in it and it was invented for medicine because he was he was very ill and that's how Coca-Cola come to be and of course he sold these guys in Atlanta and where the big Coca-Cola bottle company is in the big corporate offices now is where the yellow jacket drive-thru used to be. There are two students at Georgia tech they got kicked out and so each of them opened up a hot dog and hamburger stand the varsity and the yellow jacket well the varsity done much better because they're right there off of North avenue and 75 right there by Georgia tech which it also used to be checked with the project there but now they changed it over to a fantastic apartments because of the Olympics but that's pretty much the story about coca cola and they sold it they sold it you know and the rest is history but yes he was originally from Rome Georgia this is like a lot of people don't know that Woodrow Wilson's wife is Barrett it's one of the most historical cemeteries in the world there in Rome Georgia oh yes Rome has a lot of history so much history it was it was named after Rome Italy and there's a lot there's a lot of story attached to that too but I won't go into it maybe another day.

Can I ask you, what is the difference between white lily flour and other flour’s you can buy at the grocery store? I used to see white lily flour at the stores but lately unfortunately I can’t seem to find it. I do use gold medal but I’m not a big fan once I was using it to make some pizza dough, I found a dead bug. So now I sift my flour whenever I bake. I did buy Pillsberry best and King Arthur that’s all I can find at the moment.
When I was in Cracker Barrel, they had Coca-Cola chocolate cake, I loved it so much I had to go home and make it for my self. This recipe is very close to the one I made. (was NO water added)

That’s the way I remember them too. I think I would use buttermilk also instead of water and an extra egg. Go for the gusto! Lol

I used to make this all of the time for our church we would have Wednesday night bible study a long with a supper we always used Hershey cocoa powder.
And if you use a Coca Cola the kind made in Mexico, the Coke from there tastes like it did it in the 1950s and 60s…Pure cane sugar and no HFCS.
Cake sounds good, but I have to take out the eggs and use replacement.

Tammy just a little trivia here and you probably already know but the guy that invented Coke is from Rome Georgia and it had the original coke leaves in it and it was invented for medicine because he was he was very ill and that's how Coca-Cola come to be and of course he sold these guys in Atlanta and where the big Coca-Cola bottle company is in the big corporate offices now is where the yellow jacket drive-thru used to be. There are two students at Georgia tech they got kicked out and so each of them opened up a hot dog and hamburger stand the varsity and the yellow jacket well the varsity done much better because they're right there off of North avenue and 75 right there by Georgia tech which it also used to be checked with the project there but now they changed it over to a fantastic apartments because of the Olympics but that's pretty much the story about coca cola and they sold it they sold it you know and the rest is history but yes he was originally from Rome Georgia this is like a lot of people don't know that Woodrow Wilson's wife is Barrett it's one of the most historical cemeteries in the world there in Rome Georgia oh yes Rome has a lot of history so much history it was it was named after Rome Italy and there's a lot there's a lot of story attached to that too but I won't go into it maybe another day.

Can I ask you, what is the difference between white lily flour and other flour’s you can buy at the grocery store? I used to see white lily flour at the stores but lately unfortunately I can’t seem to find it. I do use gold medal but I’m not a big fan once I was using it to make some pizza dough, I found a dead bug. So now I sift my flour whenever I bake. I did buy Pillsberry best and King Arthur that’s all I can find at the moment.

When I was in Cracker Barrel, they had Coca-Cola chocolate cake, I loved it so much I had to go home and make it for my self. This recipe is very close to the one I made. (was NO water added)

That is the cocoa we have here in Missouri, but we do not have White Lily flour. My mother made the Coke Cola cake but not the Texas sheet cake.

Surprised when your recipe of the day came up, and it was CocaCola cake. I have my Grandma's recipe for it. She uses regular all purpose flour. Always a delicious cake with a chocolate fudge frosting. Can't wait to make your recipe! Love your videos!
