I was a 12 or 13 year old when I asked my mom to buy this album for me. On the ride home she let me bump this all the way home in her Honda Prelude. Miss my mom so much and I really miss that Prelude. ILU mom!
Yes absolutely! But there are a few artists that live by the old ways but they are mostly underground. Plus baggy fashions are making a comeback, but truthfully the Latino communities have kept 90's fashion styles alive this whole time but you have to seek them out.
In 1995 I was 15 & I wanted a car so bad so that I could play this! I use to sit in my Mom’s Buick Regal with Keystone Raiders on it in our driveway! 😂 This was my song!!! 🔥🔥🔥
I was 20 in 1995. I had a 1982 Monte Carlo with two Kicker 15's and two Punch 40's. This was my favorite song at the time. Not this one, but the radio version was a little different.
I was 12 and I used to live in San Jose California 😂 would you believe I even went to Junior High with Tory Holt 🤣 we played basketball at his house once and I totally scuffed the heck out of my hands he took me in his house and told me not to cus because my hands were burning from getting super scuffed up and I was cussing up a storm he also has a sister by the way she's so super pretty forgot her name though nice girl. 😊
Actually they do. They're fully aware of it. Why do you think they've created this recent movement on social media, where they're constantly trying to minimize and discredit the 90s at every turn? The 90s are a CONSTANT reminder to them that not only did they missed all of the dope sh*t, but said dopeness can't be found within their own generation/era and they know it 🤣 When dealing with Gen Z on social media, they love to arrogantly claim that this era is the best at everything and anything that preceded them, is inherently inferior. So, any mentioning of the past is a problem in their eyes. And the reason why is because when it comes to SO MANY things in American Pop Culture, the mid 80s thru the 90s is OFTEN cited as "The Golden Era" for these things. And if you're a generation as arrogant as Gen Z, this is triggering because they know that ALL of those legendary/iconic movements, moments, artists, music, events, etc., that shaped/molded and made the culture into this dominant, global phenomenon, they've only heard or read about these things, but they didn't see and experience the impact of these things in REAL time. Simply put: they can't lay claim to any of it as a generation. And since they can't claim it for themselves, they can't use these things to stroke their over-inflated egos and delusions of grandeur about themselves, which ROYALLY pisses them off.
When this came out, I rolled a 90 Nissan Maxima. I had a obcon box w/2 12" JL Audio subs. 2 : 6 x 9 Infinity and 2 5" 1/2 alpine, and 2: 2" 1/2 JL Audio tweets with a Rockford Fosgate punch 200, skillet style. My ride bumped. Ahh, the memories of cruising and being an ole skool playa.
Masta Ace really reinvented himself with this album coming from the days of the late 1980's being with the Juice Crew and Marley Marl. Masta Ace was signed to a California record label Delicious Vinyl and had to been living in Southern California in the mid 1990's right around the time of the East Coast vs West Coast beef.

I remember listening to this when I was 8 year's old for the first time back in 97(I know it came out in 95), I had no idea who masta ace was but the beat and the lyrics mashed together perfectly. I alway's assumed whoever the person was who made the song was from cali based on the sound. Now reflecting back on everything I'm even more impressed that Ace was from New York making a "west coast sound" song due to the whole east vs west "beef" back in the day.
i just realized Nina Hagen is in this clip :) she was a big star back in the day here in Germany...this song was the soundtrack of my childhood...never saw her in it :)
Masta Ace Crooklyns finest doing it in Cali, I remember this and one of his entourage rocking a niners jersey Steve Young in Los Angeles, if I remember correctly this is 94-95 year remember rocking this while cruising Hollywood Boulevard and rocking my Canadiens jersey.
Classic! The production on top of that great Isley Brothers loop is so smooth and well executed. And Ace always comes correct with the lyrics and flows.
