Shion original swimsuit is so good, tanned Matsuri, Haato desing, Choco, fubuki... To think we still have the original summer musical clip but the girls still aren't using those swimsuits sucks.
Cover should test more waters this year and if possible make a comeback with them, everyone knew that they were a good idea. Heck Cover outrightly decided to make them 3D assets to being with. Those weeks of 3D streams revealing each one were gold.

It won't happen. If those original swimsuits come back it means all the other members need to get their own individual swimsuits too, with these sorts of things it's all or nothing for Cover. To bring those 14 old swimsuit models back this year, they would need to produce 37 new models for the remaining members.

Spearheaded? If anything Marine getting that live2D swimsuit in 2021 confirmed that a proper Hololive Summer was never coming back, because otherwise the outfit would've been reserved for it. Instead what we got was a monkey's paw Hololive Summer.

There was a time when Hololive members was actually as bold or in some cases more bold then Vshojo in terms of content, but TH-cam ended up doing content strike against members of Hololive which immediately lead to Cover panic privating bannable content on all members channels and if your why you don’t see much of their earliest content is because of that.
Also the reason why Cover place so much importance of getting permission for games is because once again a few members almost got permanently banned from TH-cam when said game companies decided to copy strike their channel that had these games in them.
But there is a sliver lineing and that is Cover is planning to start their streaming/video services and a social media platform so we might be able to see older Hololive antics making comeback there if it’s successful. Also who knows if it’s successful enough then Cover might make possible to allow non-hololive content creators to join it.
Mel and Choco's milking stream still lives rent-free in my mind.
Damn, I've seen some of the stuff they did on Bililbili. Matsuri was literally doing splits and handstands in her 3D model with her skimpy bikini, basically showcasing her crotch. Mel directing Choco-sensei in her 3D asking her to lay down and open her legs. Lesbian kissing, boobs everywhere, panties showing constantly. It was pretty fanservice-y.
Choco and Mel originally were pretty much conceived as almost pure fanservice content creators. They were doing mostly ASMR stuff, IIRC.
We lost some of Hololive best content during the mass panic video deletion after Mio got temporary Ban. Senchou , Danchou and Flare playing school days together will always be THE peak Hololive experience for me.

It has nothing to do about that. If Hololive/Cover wish, they still can do a custom swimsuit outfit for each members just fine.
The problem is that on TH-cam globally, Hololive is bigger than Nijisanji hench more eye are looking at Hololive side. That's why Nijisanji seem to get away with many thing or got reported for violation of youtube guideline (even the stream didn't even violated any guideline at all)
With many report and ban the company faced in the past, it's not wrong for company to choosing more safe approach than let the trouble looming later.

To be fair, Hololive did do swimsuits during summer but they got demonetised and binned the whole thing, not sure if TH-cam is more or less sensitive on the issue today because TH-cam is inconsistent and weird.

Thing is, I think we all understand why Hololive members and Cover itself are soo uppity about things being bannable, they've had many instances of their members (Mel and Marine for example) getting banned for their outfits. There's a reason Mel is nicknamed "Banpire". But it really sucks that they're soo afraid of possible bans that they'll go for the most cookie cutter swimsuit and copy and paste it for all members It's lame as hell, there's no personalization in any of them, unless you count different bust sizes and one colour as such, but that's a reach and a half.
Give us one pieces, ruffles, crop tops, tankinis, all with clear patterns and styles that scream each members personality. I'm not even saying this as someone who drools over swimsuit stuff, but the cookie cutter nature of the swimsuits and the reason behind it is just annoying and old at this point.

Maybe one day, they'll bring back personalized swimsuits and maybe one day, the members will be able to do more risque things, if they really want to do that. With Cover's track record, personalised swimsuits is impossible at this point.
In 2019 they made 14 new individual swimsuit models for Hololive Summer.
To be up-to-date in 2022 that's an additional 21 swimsuits, it's only a difference of 6 new models but they took the lazy route for it effectively making one model and slapping everyone's heads on top of it.
In 2023 EN and ID are joining, which (excluding ID gen3 who probably won't be 3D until HoloFes in 2024) is an additional 16 members. If they made individual swimsuits at this point they'd be unveiling 37 new models at once.
Either they've been working hard behind the scenes over the past year pumping out the 37 models the fans want to see, or they've taken the cost-cutting measure. Which do you think it will be?
I imagine they'll do it like this year's HoloFes: a group-wide JP swimsuit (that art contest winner), a group-wide ID swimsuit, and a group-wide EN swimsuit.
