But Deku was living with his older sister who he saved from her abusive father by taking his quirk and growing a snake tail which led to them living on the streets and eventually getting jobs and a house. I think deku is a vigilante for a while and gets quirks like appraisal which gave him info on quirks and stuff. He also goes to ua pretending his quirk is being a powerful snake man.
There's a scene where he almost gets choked to death by a guy and he takes his quirk. And a chunk of the story where he is homeless. And his mother abused him I'm pretty sure
