That song and especially the video hits you right in the feels. I love the raw emotion by Jennifer and how she’s hurting, begs him to stay with her, but develops strength as the song progresses until she tells him to stay away. This topic may be uncomfortable for some but Country tells it like it is and if there’s any emotion that you’re dealing with, this genre will bottle those feelings up and make music that will hopefully help you. Great songs along the lines of this one, about infidelity, realizing your mistakes, or even getting the courage to break free from a damaging relationship are All These Years by Sawyer Brown; Promises, Reasons I Cheat, and Hard Rock Bottom of Your Heart by Randy Travis; It’s Your Call by Reba McEntire; and You Were Mine by the Dixie Chicks.
Not too many female vocalists would even attempt this!!! Jennifer, however, knocks it out of the park!!!!!!! She is one of those that simply blows the lid off of whatever she tries to do!!! She is an amazing talent and an amazing person!!!!
I just found your channel today 5-29-22 I have spent the last 3 hrs on your channel. You have polished your review skills so much. Good job.. Best of times to you.
I’d like to have “words” with whoever would make Jennifer cry. In all seriousness…she SLAYS this song and the video…uuuggghhh. She’s amazing. She just makes you FEEL every. single. word.
Great reveiw! Loved the two views, listen then react. Keep up the good work! Give Brooks and Dunn's song, "Believe". Another, true song sung by a participant of the events.
This is about the most emotion ive ever heard in a song. What power she has. Hard to watch her cry . I cant stand to see any lady cry. If you dont feel something with this idk what to tell you? One in a million voice. F-DW-5/25/22.
You are dead on about this vocalist! I first saw her on the Tonight Show and I was also smitten! She has gone on to do some TV and film roles. Her vocals are always piercing and … emotionally strong! What a talent!
I did find out that she has been Happily married to her second husband for 11 years. And has a son. So everything turned out wonderful for this beautiful and talented woman. And that makes me 😃😃😃🤗🤗🤗
Pretty emotional stuff right there. She is pretty amazing, great voice, and she is pretty gorgeous too! Dude can bend those strings too- good duo. Some of their music isn’t really my style, but this is one of Jennifer’s best. Check out her cover of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody- she might surprise you!
Jennifer has a voice much like Reba's. Their voices ate very country and are easily recognized. You immediately know who is singing. Jennifer is terrific
Check out You Can'y Go home with Jon Bon Jovi, her tribute to Springsteen at the Kennedy Center, and her version of Bohemian Rhapsody. Run to You by Lady Antebellum. Boondocks by Little Big Town.
She an amazing talent, when I hear people talking about how Country Music has been diminish in the 2000's I think of Jennifer and a couple of others and have hope.
Nothing but raw emotion. Jennifer has such a powerful voice for such a small lady. Christian's grandfather is the founder of Busch's beans. Another great reaction for them would be Baby girl. Jennifer's first husband left her for someone else. That's why the emotions are so raw.
Fantastic song and an amazing performance. I know it’s a song, but it makes me want to sit down and have a talk with her. Walk away girl. You deserve better, and he’s not worth it. No man is. Get up off your knees, lock the door, and never, ever let him back in.
I see that written quite a bit on reactions to this song but it is not actually true. That she wrote the song is true, that she did so after experiencing this in her marriage is not, although she was divorcing around this time though, so perhaps her emotions in general were a bit raw.
Her partner after like the 4th take said its this one or none cause she isnt going through this any more. It tore him up to see her destroyed like that. Love that you let the song play then have your say and then you gently let the song replay while you discuss it
Hi Mr. DJ. I have loved country music since I was a little girl. One song I would love for your reaction to is my husband and my 1st dance song at our wedding almost 31 years ago. It’s by George Strait. The song is called “You’re Something Special to Me”. So my husband was 21 and I was 23. We were married in 1991. The number one songs for first wedding dances that year was Bryan Adams (Everything I Do) I Do It For You. Pretty much all of our friends had that song but us. We were the last wedding that year of all our friends. Lots of us got married that year. So when our song came on and we weren’t plastered all over each other but rather two stepped we got a few looks. Lol. How that song came about as our wedding song was that back in 1989 my girlfriend and I went on a trip and my husband (then good friend) called me at the hotel and told me to turn on US99. I of course did. The DJ came on and said this song goes out to Nikki from Alex. So sweet. I really felt special. Then we became boyfriend and girlfriend and the rest is history. I really love and appreciate that you are trying out the country genre. I love all types of music. We had a very diverse wedding party as is our friend group. “Stay” is the first and only reaction video of yours I’ve watched so far. I felt compelled to request a song reaction which I’ve never done before. I’m absolutely going to watch the rest. Btw I love Sugarland and I think you will like more of their songs. Please take care.
This is a great song and a incredible performance. Another artist you should check out is Craig Morgan. He is another country artist who is a great storyteller with his songs. A few of my favorites are "Almost Home", "My Father, My Son, & the Holy Ghost", and "That's What I Love About Sunday". Another artist I've become a fan of is Luke Combs. Almost everything he sings is good. He goes from sentimental, to fun-loving, to heart-breaking country songs with a driving country-rock guitar. For Luke Combs, check out, "Hurricane"; "One Number Away"; Even Though I'm Leaving"; "Beautiful Crazy"; "She Got the Best of Me; Forever After All"; For some of his more fun songs, check out."Beer Never Broke My Heart", "When It Rains It Pours". He doesn't disappoint!
We forget the "other woman" is not always the aggressor, it is often the husband who uses both women. On this theme, check out Two Black Cadillacs by Miss Carrie Underwood.
Not the biggest country fan but this genre has tons of songs that really hit hard. A few I like are John Michael Montgomery “ The little girl”, Martina Mcbride “ Concrete angel, Garth Brooks “ if tomorrow never comes, and Keith Whitley “ Don’t close your eyes. Dolly Parton has a few as well
From what I understand, she poured into this song just exactly, her emotional trauma that she was currently experiencing from a relationship of her own that had just dissolved. Loved your reaction brother❤
Jennifer Nettles is one of the great voices period, not just country. She’s appeared with Dolly Parton in her movie Coat of Many Colors and the sequel Christmas of Many Colors. Jennifer has also starred on Broadway in the musical Waitress. Really, a tremendous talent.
Jennifer Nettles, Martina McBride, Patty Loveless, and Reba McEntire are the most powerful voices in the history of Country Music. There have been many beautiful voices in country, as in other genres of music, but these ladies stand out for their ability to belt it out. If you loved Rock in the 80s (as everyone should) you know that Pat Benatar was in a league of her own in terms of vocal power in rock at the time. These ladies are on the same level. Amazing powerful voices that are a gift from God.
Jennifer is one of my favorites ❤. This song hits so close to home for me having been on both ends of this drama. You could tell she was really feeling the emotion of this song which only comes with experience. Singing from her heart. But on a happier note you should react to her singing "Stuck on You" . A very funny one. Thanks for a great reaction as always.😥😊
I saw Sugarland and was so hoping it would be this one. Amazing song and rare to have one sung from this angle of a cheating song. Out of all the genres I've delved into and really enjoyed, my first lo e was country and songs like this is why. The story telling, comedy, satire, emotional, romantic, wise, good/bad.... everything is explored. I have some very strong personal views on cheating, but this song really gets into the emotions and kicks you in the gut a bit. With the past that she experienced, I think it was amazing for her to step back and create this masterpiece.
Jennifer Nettles's Husband cheated on her & she decided to sing it from the perspective of the other woman. When this song came out, it won video of the year!! You could definitely tell those were real tears & emotion coming out of Jennifer!! Beautiful song!!
Again her husband DID NOT cheat on her but the emotions are from the recent divorce that she went through. Google the writing of the song it will explain.
She was going through a divorce because of finding out her husband cheated. She wrote this song from the mistress point of view. Christian tried to stop the video because she was breaking down. She wanted to keep going. I hope this was a way for her to work through it.
She was going through a nasty divorce when this was recorded. She kept breaking down in the studio to the point where her friend took his guitar and left saying I can't watch you do this to yourself anymore. The producers had to splice together enough to finish the video.
Sad lamentable and pathetic truth is that after my divorce the first relationship I was in- I was the side guy. Obviously didn't know but once I did it was all of those same lies and lines. Like an idiot I clung to those for about a year. Why? Because when we were together I felt special and loved... And used. But walked away for the same reasons. Finally I did find THE one. 12 years later I feel special and loved but never used.
One of the things I think most reactions miss is how the guitarist plays his role, notice he shows no emotion throughout the song. While she is totally emotionally committed. He’s the cheating husband and his emotionless reaction shows how he’s just using her and is almost tired of her asking him to stay.
This song is very personal to her and the emotions are very real. She wrote it when she was divorcing her husband who had been cheating. She wrote it from the other woman's point of view but parts could just as easily have been from her own. She didn't have to act in this one. She has one of the powerful voices of women in country. She also showed her acting chops in Dolly Partons made for TV movie Coat of Many Colors. Dolly wrote the script, and produced it and personally asked Jennifer Nettles to be in the movie.
Actually no, Nettles wrote the song inspired by a Reba McEntire song, Who's ever in New England, about a woman who's husband is having an affair. Nettles was married when she wrote the song and the later divorced, but it was 5 years later and it was not the result of infidelity. IOW she simply has the ability to put a great deal of emotion into her performances. In this case, when filming the video, her emotions got the better of her and she started to cry. They stopped recording until she could compose herself and then completed the video. They late edited in some of her crying for dramatic effect.
I'm so glad you "Got" it. Thank you for the reaction.
Sir, you are the Best reactor. I have watched so Many.
U R the best.
Oooooohhhhhhh boy! You’ve landed in Sugarland! Prepare to be stunned by her vocals. ❤️🎤🎼🎤❤️
I am!
Jennifer Nettles and STAY This song could bring a Tear to a glass eye WOW

Wow.This brought back some memories. Thank God I got on with my life. Love you reaction. Have a wonderful day.
THANK You this is such a powerful Song and her Vocals were just such much color. It got into your Soul.
Simply BEAUTIFUL!! I could see the look on your face......you enjoyed this song very much!
It's a masterpiece!! Thanks DJ
I did.
Love this child! What a voice!
Beautiful and emotional song.
She did this live at one of the Country Music awards. She was just as emotional and it sounded just as good. Wonderful reaction and analysis.
Great Reaction
Sang beautifully, as always!
Not too many female vocalists would even attempt this!!! Jennifer, however, knocks it out of the park!!!!!!! She is one of those that simply blows the lid off of whatever she tries to do!!! She is an amazing talent and an amazing person!!!!
Jennifer without doubt has a great voice but so do several other women within the country music genre.
She wrote this... I believe she lived it.
Why,don't you think "they" wouldn't attempt it? Just curious
An incredible song.
Finally an adult reaction to this song. You sir are a pleasure to watch.
Thank you!

Jennifer has amazing vocal talent. In addition to the talent, she is a great communicator. It takes both to be truly great.
Jennifer Nettles sings a live version of His Hands” ft. Brandy Clark. Very powerful. Please check it out. Her voice is amazing.

I wouldn't ever cheat! Ever

This is from the viewpoint of the “other woman”. For a song from a wife you might like to react to Reba McEntire’s “Whoever’s in New England”.
Jennifer Nettles's Husband cheated on her & she decided to sing it from the perspective of the other woman. When this song came out, it won video of the year!! You could definitely tell those were real tears & emotion coming out of Jennifer!! Beautiful song!!
